Which game?

OK a bit of an open and probably asked to death question but here goes. After a very long time away from gaming my other half is allowing me to buy an Xbox. Fantastic! I shout. Better yet she insists on the kinect too.



Now the problem is it has been a long time since I was gaming properly (think original PS) so I'm a bit out of the loop. What games would be good to reintroduce me? Something that's not going to end up thrown through my TV because it's too hard or
confusing, but got a bit of life span and easy to pick up. Not really interested on sports games though.

Which is it?

while kinect is great for standing up and moving around that isnt what it is all about.

there is voice input which obviously doesnt require moving at all.

i am going to copy from another reply i made in a different thread about more subtle movements kinect can use to immerse someone further into a game:

kinect has facial recognition so it will auto log you in. it can also track controllers so if your friend comes by and picks up a controller it will notice and log him/her in. it will also split the screen according to where you are sitting, ps eye has this
feature as well.

the facial recognition goes further as it can see your mood. this can add greatly to in game immersion. if you are frustrated and your brow is furled and you have a frown on your face, your character in game may act frustrated. likewise if you are happy
and smiling. this could also be used in games that require bluffing or persuasion. this obviously isnt for everyone, but some people will love this level of immersion as it can put them further into the game.

then there are the more subtle movements. maybe a head flinch results in a small little in game flinch, again for those who really get immersed into the game. but it could also be something like tilting your head might let you peer around a corner.

and then there are the things we cant think of because we have always gamed a certain way for so long. i mean look at what touchscreens did. would you have ever guessed a game where you shoot birds out of a slingshot at pigs would get so huge? no because
its really not a fun game until you play it on a touchscreen then its this addictive little game. is it a great game? are all these little touch based games great? no, but they are fun for a bit. kinect could spawn a new type of game just like touchscreens
did.

 

Which DLC??

On the first time it always takes longer as you don't know what to expect, do it a second or 3rd time, you cut the time right down as you know where everywhere is, on the sink fetch quest, don't do it in the order the sink sends you, just go and visit
all locations, and collect the sink stuff from them, and then use fast travel, to get the ones you missed, the Skillbook discs got me, I only found 5 first time I played it through, now I get them all and the extra Science book,

 

Xbox One or 360 mate? Both have shed loads to go at now. Also, what sort of games do you like?

 

Xbox one. I'm toying with games like Halo, CoD, Destiny and Forza. Thes types of games have always appealed. But what puts me off them, like Titanfall, is getting a whooping online!

Beyond the blockbuster games my knowledge is a bit limited, so any obscure or hidden gems would be interesting

I'm open to give any genre a go, except sport games. I find those dull.

 

Assassins Creed Black Flag! awesome Pirate romp. Halo MCC, Forza Horizons or 5. Ryse, Destiny all great games. Shadow Of Mordor is also fantastic.

 

Trials Evolution !! Some of the harder / extreme tracks can be difficult but once you nail them you'll feel great !! Also there is thousands of user made tracks so the game will pretty much go on indefinitely !

 

Sunset Overdrive. Never has a funnier game been played. (Apart from Day of the Tentacle)

 

"Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition" will keep you playing forever.

Just remember to increase your difficulty as you progress or it will be too easy and you will not get the best loot.

"Far Cry 4" looks and plays brilliantly. There is an online element but it's really made for it's Single Player mode.

"Destiny" is great and will keep you going for a while. The first Expansion goes Live next Tuesday, 09/12/14.

A couple of games to consider that are cheap but fun to play as well as being both interesting and different are "Murdered Soul Suspect" and "Zoo Keeper".
