Which game will be more successful, Skyrim or Fallout 4?

Which system did you play New Vegas on? I remember loading screens being hideous on the PS3, while N.V. having better loading times than Fallout 3, Oblivion, and Skyrim, on the 360; probably part of the reason I didn't like Skyrim.

Now that you mention loading screens; I'm hoping F.O.4 has taken a cue from Witcher 3.

That's why I said... "the fun didn't equal the aggravation of waiting on load screens"...

Skyrim was fun enough to justify waiting... and hey! You had a cool 3D game object that you could rotate and inspect while you waited. lol

NV... not so much.

BTW, I played them both on the 360.

 

We will see, tbh I never fully enjoyed any of these games on the console as the whole time I felt like my machine was going to explode. I hope this time around they have optimized the game better.

 

I played an unhealthy amount of Oblivion on the pc , loved Fallout 3, but just couldn't get into Skyrim and NV in the same way...

Really excited for Fallout 4 though!

 

Skyrim (sorry Borderlands/Gearbox) is my favourite 360 title and if it wasn't for my desire to play new games I'd probably still play it.

I should really replay Fallout 3 along with DLC because I rushed through it in a single playthrough.

F:NV, I thoroughly enjoyed until I arrived at The Strip and for some reason it went downhill fast. But I may have just wanted to complete the game and trade it in.

Will Fallout 4 be more successful than Skyrim? No. The reason being Skyrim was released on the 360 long into the consoles existence. The Xbox One isn't even 2 years old, therefore has sold far fewer units compared to the 360 when Skyrim was released. I'd
be very surprised if FO4 sells half as many copies as Skyrim did.

FO4 has the potential to be better though and its the first game I've been excited for in a long, long time. Can't wait!

 

Yes...Fallout 4 will outsell Skyrim without question... IF you are looking at total sales and not just the Xbox One because the sales have been a bit poor for it.

Fallout 4 – Launch and Beyond

After many long years, Fallout 4 is entering its final months of development. We've put so much into it for so long; we can’t believe it’s almost done. The game will soon be out of our hands and into yours. There’s so much there that we haven’t talked about
or spoiled, because we want you to discover it, to make it your own.

It's during this stage of development that we start thinking about how we'll support Fallout 4 after launch. We wanted to give you a taste of what we plan on doing:

Regular Updates

We'll be doing regular free updates to the game, and like Skyrim, these will come with not just fixes, but new features. For Skyrim we added things like mounted combat, legendary mode, kill cams, visual enhancements and more. We’ll work with all of you to
figure out what new things you’d love to see added to Fallout 4, whether they are small tweaks or new features.

Mods & Creation Kit

The most important thing in our games is the freedom you have to create your own experience, and modding is a big part of that. Like all our previous games, we’ve made sure to keep Fallout 4 open and moddable at every step in development. Early next year
we’ll release for free the new Creation Kit for the PC. This is the same tool we use in the studio. You'll be able to create your own mods and share them with others. We’re especially excited these same mods will then be coming to Xbox One, and then PlayStation
4.

Downloadable Content

We've always done a lot of DLC for our games. We love making them and you always ask us for more. To reward our most loyal fans, this time we’ll be offering a Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30. Since we’re still
hard at work on the game, we don’t know what the actual DLC will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you'll get it all with
the Season Pass.

I think Fallout 4 will do better than Skyrim.

I love the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games equally, I think Fallout will also have a lot of appeal to shooter fans too this time around though. Skyrim is a great game though, I'm actually playing through it again right now on pc. Tbh, with all the mods I
have installed, I never dreamed Skyrim could be so beutiful and even bigger.

 

I'm just praising the great Bethesda gods in the sky, they finally gave us some proper gun handling...

Fallout 4 is going to be epic!

 

I want to preface this message by saying that I never played Morrowind back when it first came out.

Having said that, Oblivion is my favorite Bethesda game. I had just purchased a 360 a couple months prior and that game just took over my life for about a year.

I enjoyed Skyrim, Fallout 3 and to a lesser extent Fallout: New Vegas, but none of them got me the way ES:IV did. I probably went back to New Vegas about 4 or 5 separate times to get all of the achievements. It just didn't hook me at all.

 

It will have a hard time beating Skyrim, which released in the last few years of the 360/PS3 cycle, so the tech was humming like a finely tuned engine. Market saturation was probably at it's highest, and the game just exploded. Fallout 4 is landing early
in the current cycle. But over the long haul, it could put decent numbers together, as more people pick up systems.
