Which Comcast/Xfinity setup and cable box provide the best OneGuide experience?

I currently have just the Basic package from Xfinity (i.e.FOX, WCCO, WB, KMSP, etc.), though the Cisco RNG150N cable box. I do not have any HD channels, and the viewing experience on the OneGuide works, but is dismal. I do not want 100 channels, just the
basic 10 to work in my OneGuide

I'd rather not buy in to extremely expensive cable channels and box upgrades, so what is the best recommendation I can ask Xfinity for? Which cable box should I ask for, and which channel cable package is required to see standard channels in HD format.
    Thank you for your recommendations!

    :)

Colossal waste of time with TV setup - Comcast service

I also have comcast/xfinity and everything is working fine. Have you connected the cable box directly to your tv via the hdmi cable to verify a signal is there? I can recall an earlier comcast box that did not use hdmi as default, you had to enable this
in the cable box setup. I believe it was a Scientific Atlanta HD receiver. To get into the setup you had hold down front panel buttons during the power up sequence. If you do not get a signal I would google your cable box model and look for additional information.
As for the missing channels, the OneGuide can be configured to not show SD channels that have HD equivalents, are these the missing channels?

I can get to the setup/wizard just fine, but it doesn't work with my Comcast Xfinity X1 box...TV commands work great, but nothing for the cable box

    X1 Platform/Xbox One Set Up

Old thread, but I just went through this pain today, after moving states. Directv box had no issues, but the Xfinity X1 box, oh boy!!

    1) Reset your TV settings through the TV/One guide in the settings.

    2) Go through the setup again.

    3) Choose Comcast as the provider.

    4) Xfinity as the cable box brand.

    5) The command will fail at least 4 times for power.

    6) Select skip, then use the manual setup and type "X1".

This should work from this point forward.

Need Code For Comcast Xfinity X1 Platform

I think this will fix most of your problem. I was having the same issue with my Xfinity XG1-A cable box. The Xbox Kinect has IR blasters that emits the IR codes. Try placing the Kinect in front or near your cable box and try to send a command via voice
    or Xbox oneguide.

I used the Comcast model: x1

    Good luck.

Comcast X1 and Xbox One trouble

I am having the same trouble using the standard X1 box. During setup - I've tried selecting Comcast or Xfinity (no Comcast X1 option available) and the Channel up / Down features don't work. I can continue forth however when watching TV I can't use the
pause / ffwd functions, nor can I select a channel to watch from the OneGuide. Any Ideas? My Kinect is sitting on top of the cable box...not sure if this contributes to that issue?
