    Rubix99

So sales determine whether a console is "True next gen"?

    Here's something for you;

Speaking about last gen, PS3 and 360, I don't know what their install base is, but I'm sure that 360 is quite a lot more than the PS3.

PS3, as you describe, being the inferior console, had a good percentage of their customer base "Make the jump" to next gen.

360, however, being still an excellent system, had a much lower percentage of people "Make the jump" and still has probably a higher install base than PS3, and both next gen consoles combined. (I'm only speculating on that one, but you get my point)

What's going to happen when last gen folks finally "Make the jump", with most of them currently being 360 fans?

Time will tell, but my guess is that tides will turn.

Either way, my point from my previous post was that BOTH consoles are great and there is no reason to "hate" on either one. I applaud both MS and Sony for delivering us two great consoles, and look forward to their further development.

Actually Rubix, the developers gave nothing and no one any "special love". Because of the architecture, the 360 was simply easier to develop for. It was a less complicated process. Sales had absolutely nothing to do with it. Nice try attempting to make it
seem like you knew what you were talking about, though. Good effort.

What makes Rubix whole argument Reedickyoulus is the fact that Wii outsold both PS3 and 360 last gen. Developers didnt follow the money if thet had Wii would have been the supreme console, they followed the easier console to develop for. But dont let my
logic get in the way of your insane thoughts Rubix.

@Fyrbreak PS3 and 360 are virtually dead even in terms of sales. Last I checked PS3 was slightly ahead in fact.

@Redeye I have no idea what you are even talking about. I am just stating facts, and i truly do not believe you did not understand my post. It was a conflicting post. And i am really torn about the 75$, I both like it and dislike it. We as an Xbox community
need to not argue and stick together.

  5. Why should we as early adopters expect anything seriously? I haven't had a day were I regret buying my Xbox One. I may buy one for my son early x-mas now ... maybe some of my best friends will finally make the jump.

Devs/publishers didn't put their games on the Wii b/c they knew they wouldn't sell.

65% kids....the rest are Wii girls and boyfriends....yeah....I see Mass Effect selling real well on the Wii.

Oh I realize that, I was referring to install base (The number of consoles in people's homes today) not current day sales.

I could have seen the collected Mass Effect Trilogy selling well on the Wii U. A shame they only released the third part.

Here are the last sales update figures for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Xbox 360: Worldwide: 83.7 million (as of March 31, 2014)

    PS3: 80 million (as of November 2, 2013)

These are the last updated sales figures for Sony. Some estimated at 83 Million, but no confirmation. Which still puts 360 up 700K

Not sure why people think being an early adopter is anything special to be honest. Just means you wanted to get the new shiny as soon as it came available.

  12. I wonder if NxtDoc1851 if you are taking into account the huge failure rate of the Xbox 360. How many of those extra consoles are replacements for ones that failed.

I don't think those count as sales the majority were replaced for free.

  14. In the beginning Microsoft didn't acknowledge the RRoD. It took a little while for them to do so.

Then they didn't acknowledge the E74 error. Again it took a little while for them to do so.

So if your console was over 12 months old, on at least two occasions, Microsoft would not replace or repair them for free.

During that time people had no choice but to buy a new console if they wanted to keep playing.

Also bear in mind that an out of warranty repair costs £70 to £80. For a little more you can have a brand new console.

There are more purchased replacement consoles out there than you may think.

  15. This thread pretty much sums up these forums. Ya'll are like a bunch of high school cheerleaders. God forbid anyone say anything critical about your precious Xbox. It's hilarious, considering none of you work for MS or have stock or are an investor. Why
so emotionally invested? It's kind of creepy. What's wrong with pointing out the flaws with the Xbox brand? What's wrong with feeling jaded because you had 8 Xbox's fail in 8 years? What's wrong with wondering why MS charges for online play when the others
don't? What's wrong with scratching your head with all the decisions MS had planned with the ONE then deciding to change those policies on a whim? What's wrong with wondering "what are they gonna change next." What's wrong with wanting Xbox to quit trying
to jam the Kinect down people's throat? What's wrong with expecting more and being critical? As consumers, that's our responsibility.

To piggy back on what SwordStyle said. I think running out on day one to buy a console from a company that had a failure rate as bad as the 360 makes you a much dumber consumer. As opposed to the gamer who waited. I swear. I think some of you wear green
and white tights under your clothes and as soon as someone say's anything bad about the MS brand you rip off your clothes like Clark Kent and fly in to save the day. Like a billion dollar company needs your help or even cares you exist. Keep it up though.
It makes for really funny reading.
