Where on your PC are microsoft games installed?

yea this sucks actually. I am taking my business off the Microsoft store. I can't complain with the 1 dollar game pass but I won't be giving Microsoft any more money than that.

I would rather spend 60 dollars on Steam than support bad infrastructure and inefficiency. Not being able to change where my install is going and see where it's going like every other library system is not okay. I have 2 HDDs and 2 SSDs. I have 4 WindowsApp folders (which i gave myself security access to). Looking through to see which one was bigger than going through it to find the game is absolutely ridiculous. All the files names are nonsensical.

ALL I WANT TO DO IS INSTALL TO A DIFFERENT DIRECTORY. IT DIDN'T GIVE ME THE OPTION TO WHEN I INSTALLED FIRST. THIS IS INSANE.

Also, not allowing me access to .ini and .cfg files is not okay. There are ways to optimize games that are not exposed to the client GUI a lot of times. I haven't modified an .ini since 2018 but it's still nice to have and as a principle. I specifically remember because multi-core rendering wasn't turned on and there were issues with lights that could be fixed with ini edits.





The UX is terrible for the Microsoft store. It's like when Microsoft took over Hotmail and destroyed it.

And you can't even "Open File Location" via task manager. It's blocked - other processes work just fine.





This is insane.... this is crazy to me. This actually is promoting me to spend money with Microsoft's competitors.

Okay... now I searched Forza, but everything looked weird. Then I saw a bunch of zipped files like "ADV.zip". I opened the file location. Went up a few folders and found it!









What kind of naming is that? lol

No one blocks files on my PC for a simple video game. I don't care if I never edit them. It's the principle. It's my PC. No money for you Microsoft.

They aren't visible to you as they are encrypted to prevent cheating and moding beyond offical methods

The only offical method isn't websites

It's direct ingame marketplaces like realms etC

The game is not yours, you have the license to run the game and not to alter or modify the game files.

If you install the game on your C hard drive the game will be downloaded in this path C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

If you change the installation to another hard drive you will find the folder in D:\WindowsApps.

The folder is protected and you will not be able to change any files within it.

Edit: There's been a lot of complaints about how the Windows Store and Game Pass works on Windows. The biggest being how files are locked away. But looks like Microsoft are going to change this soon:
