Where is XB1 Going?

Its going to where we as consumers want it to go just not as quick as we would like but it will get there.

As has already been said digital is the future so when as we all want digital copies of games to drop in price the new gen consoles will be disc drive free just a matter of time but as with everything I have noticed with change those that don't like or want
will complain but its called progress and or consumer demand (the majority that is)

The reason that we have to install Xbox One disc games into our HDDs is because it will reduce the stress / workload of the DVD Drive.

If the disc were to continously spin the entire time that you're playing a game, it would eventually damage the DVD Drive (which happend a lot with the Original Xbox and Xbox 360).

This way (installing game to you HDD) extends the life span of the Xbox One's DVD Drive by at least twice as long the Xbox 360s DVD Drive

I only buy disc versions of full games (I use the term " full " to differentiate if from games purchased from XBLA games). If the time comes where all of the games have to be digital; I will quit gaming completely.

Thanks for the clear and concise answers, Lei Fang! Though digital may be "The way of the future", I still think there is a place for a physical copy of a game one can hold and appreciate. I've had my Xbox 360 since Jun 2009 and the disc drive and all the
discs are still good as ever. I like stuff like that.

 

I have a total of 3 disc for my One all the rest are DL. Ive become addicted to being able to switch instantly. As far as marketing goes I remember a skinny guy in a black spandex jumpsuit wandering around empty rooms calling "Zelda" repeatedly. Had nothing
to do with the game but I still remember that commercial a bazillion years later. Funny how some things stick. Showing my age a bit there haha

 

I look foward to the day when games on disc appear on American Pickers. Lol

Disc installing is nothing "new"...it has been the norm for years in PC gaming as well as an option for the 360/ps3 as well for nothing more than making the game load times more forgiving and allowing you play bigger games without borders or having to load
more often between levels.

Hell, I'd pay for a disc changer so could change between games without having to get off my couch on the weekends just change between discs

 

The futuer of gaming is discless. Unlike some women in this topic. I will never give up gaming. Video games didn't stop my grandparent from playing board games. Why stop playing video games because a formate. You should do what you like do. And not do it
how it works.

I am already using something that is called a " Wi-Fi Range Extender " in my game room.

My Xbox 360 (Original White with 20 GB console) is using the Wi-Fi Adaptor that is being extended by a 12 foot USB Extender Cable, it gets 4 out of 4 Wi-Fi Signal bars.

My Xbox One only has 2 out of 4 Wi-Fi Signal Bars. because it is built into the system.

I certainly hope for my sake that the next Wi-Fi Adapter for the next Xbox One is at least 5 times more powerful than whatever is being used on the Xbox One for me to partake of the Digital Era.

I'm really glad that you're enjoying your Ethernet Cable connected consoles, it must be wonderful to have such a powerful internet connection for your Xbox 360 and Xbox One
