Where is XB1 Going?

Honestly, what is this company even doing. Showing videos with pretty blonde women in all-hardwood houses with a deerhead ornament on the wall? This ridiculous out-of-place marketing mixed with the fact that the console isn't backwards-compatible and also
requires you to download each game even with a disc, makes me really worried about the future of Xbox and consoles everywhere.

The future is digital and play last gen games is the past.

 

No idea what you're talking about, but the marketing clearly worked if you're talking about it. And the PS4 also does not have backwards compatibility and requires all games be installed to the hard drive.

 

First off, backwards compatibility is never coming back to any console. Remastered versions of games are the future. Deal with it. And yes you're gonna have to download games. Welcome to the future. Physical copies of games are on the way out man. By the
end of this gen, there will be a disc-less Xbox One and ps4. Go make a sandwich and wait for your game to download updates and install. Sorry but that's how it's going to be.

3. future of Xbox is very good. Its MS so its only going to get better. Remember MS makes billion and billions there no fools.

 

The XB1 isn't BC, but neither are the other consoles. I like marketing of MS, because it's different. It shows that MS can be creative and think outside of the box, unlike other companies. The XB1 is getting better over time and at a faster pace than the
other consoles, and I think that the XB1 has the best features for this console generation. I do think that the game downloading from disc is a bit much, but I guess that's the point where we're at now.

 

If you're complaining about the marketing of the Xbox One, you should look at some of the old commercials the video gaming is graced with. A lot of them don't make any sense and yet helped entice interest.

 

Marketing = is the process of communicating the value of a product or service to customers, for the purpose of selling that product or service.

By you talking about it... by anyone talking about it.... well... yeah

 

Wow, I'm actually quite happy at all the responses. You guys brought up a lot of good points about the marketing and BC, but I still don't get why every game has to download even with a disc. Faster load times?

 

so whenever you buy a game on xbox one and put it in the console for the first time it has to be installed? you can't play it without installing it?

 

^^No you cant just pop a disc in and play. Its because of the read speed of the blu ray drive. Had MS went with a DVD it would be possible but its blu ray so installing is a must. And its overall better for the disc drive.

 

Trav you are not downloading the game even though you have the disc. It's called installing.

 

As mentioned above, that's not downloading the game, it's installing it to the hard drive. Games can be read much faster from a hard drive than a disc, and it also puts much less wear and tear on your disc drive. The 360 has the same feature (though it's
optional) and after having 2 360's with failed disc drives, I always install games now.
