Is there a setting to *not* use the PC mic/headphones for party chat?

hey how did you use your mic in xbox app party chat in the first place? i launched "start a party (beta)" and it shows my mic, but i can't talk or hear anyone in the party chat. and my mic is the default recording device

Where is the mic option for the xbox app party chat ?

ok so I'm going to help out some how. ok when you are in a party on the xbox app, you can hit the mute button to mute the party and your mic from saying stuff to other people.

Now how to make the party work. One of the things you can do is use a 360 or xbox one wired controller and plug it into your computer. (skip this if your PC has built in speakers) let it install the drivers for the controller then plug in your microphone
into the controller. then let it install that driver for it. once that's done go to system volume on the taskbar and right click on the Icon. hit view play back devices

make sure you right click and view disabled and unplugged devices. if your microphone comes up from your controller right click and set as default communications device.

and once that is all set you will be able to use parties.

(PS next time when you are posting on here give more explanation to help out the people wanting to help you)

Hope that helps Where is the mic option for the xbox app party chat ? :)

Party Chat through Xbox Companion App/Game Bar

seems like, as the party chat recognize your mic, check if you have the same issues on mobile app or in a party directly on the Xbox

Mic not working in Fortnite - Xbox one.

This same issue has been ongoing for months. My son can hear his friends but his mic doesnt work.

The “fix” where you turn off the mic and push to talk in fortnite settings would occasionaly work bit now doesnt.

all other games and apps work with the mic.

The problem persists on another xbox signed in with his profile, using a different headset, so this is not a hardware issue.

other profiles on his xbox have no issues with sound/mic

this is an issue effecting certian profiles accross fortnite only party chat, xbox party chat works fine, which cant be used for crossplatform party play.

    cloud gaming fortnite mic problem

make sure the browser has access to the mic under settings, or try using the xbox app instead of the browser. also why not use party chat via gamebar or the xbox app to chat.
