More consoles and games out there at the moment are spreading out the herd.

If I were to guess, the following would probably have something to do with these low numbers...

(1) People are playing games that were on "sale / free with Gold" for the Xbox 360.

(2) People are trying to finish their "back log" of Xbox 360 games & if this they recently purchased / got free games; it will take longer to finish the "back log" due, unless the person gives up completely on some or all of these games.

(3) People are trying to finish their "back log" of Original Xbox games.

(4) People got tired of playing those games.

(5) People gave away / sold their Xbox 360 and / Xbox One.

(6) People are playing different consoles.

(7) People stopped playing their Xbox 360 / Xbox One because they're busy with other stuff.

What difference does it matter?

It ain't like you can play against 500k or 700k at any given time.

When a game has a lot of players, it becomes more difficult to join a server.

You guys worry about the wrong things!

I've had my Xbox 360 since it came out and I've had a Gold Membership for 2 1/2 years LOL

The only reason that I even have a Gold Membership is because of Halo Reach (Daily / weekly non-PvP challenges; solo), Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer (solo), Halo 4 Spartan Ops (solo), and Diablo 3 (with my friends).

Everyone lives in different time zones different countries have school and or work have other hobbies gave other chores. Well it may be summer vacation for the us. Its not for australia and new zealand were in term 3 school wise and its winter here. Spring
for australia and new zealand starts september next month august 1st today.

I'm sure if... one day gaming was only multiplayer, you can put your session on "Invite Only". Most games today on Xbox allow this. Multiplayer is a good experience but forcing it on us with no "Invite Only" or the ability to play in a "private" session
(which Invite Only allows) is kind of wrong.

Lloydy, what you say is true, but even if you split that evenly 4 ways that's still a lot.

 

Lets face it COD ghost is crap, I have known a COD where everyone I play with stops playing the MP before the next one comes out let alone 6 months before, and the price drop so quickly is another indication. BF4 has such a bad reputation for being broke
and didn't do anything quickly enough to get people on board, the recent price drop is just to late. And Titanfall didn't have enough to keep people interested long enough and match making IMO was pants.

So until something comes out that works, numbers will stay low.

By default, I set it to "Friends Only" when I don't mind if they want join in
