Where are the next gen WW2 games?!

I'm a bit of a history buff so I like games based on true events. Would love to see a US civil war game but a 2 min reload time doesn't lend itself to FPS. Maybe a strategy sim or turn based RPG.

WWII games are pretty good, can be quite in depth, but they're a little dry now aren't they? Most if not all sides have been covered, just think developers should start to move on to something new.

 

ww2 was over done last gen, people got tired of it and devs have made less of em

 

I don't understand the ww2 hate...It's been like 6 or 7 COD releases since a WWII multiplayer...Do you guys really just want to play the same old jump high and shoot lazer beam games for the rest of this generation? Or maybe all the modern warfare cods
and battlefields didn't give us enough modern shooters...Or are you just sick of shooters in general?

I love the feel of a WWII game.

 

unless someone can make a WWII game fun again, if it ever was to begin with, then i'd be all for it. if you can think of something new to add to the gameplay experience, do something that hasn't been done ad nauseum in the WWII genre and breath some life
into the thoroughly kicked and beaten horse, please let us know. we may be getting an oversaturated market of modern and future fps today, but at least they have the potential try new stuff.

 

I'll never understand why people bring up the amount of modern shooters in comparison to WW2 shooters. In a modern shooter, you can go anywhere, fight anyone, use any weapon, have any gadget, the possibilities are endless.

In a WW2 game, you're going to the same places, fighting the same enemies, with the same weapons. "Oh, a WW2 game! I wonder if it will have the M1 Garrand in it?" There is no need for questions like that. You already know what it's going to have.

 

Oh a modern shooter! I wonder if it will have an M-16 in it? Lets be real. There are shotguns, sub machine guns, assault rifles (a few full auto, one or two burst and one or two single shot). They all function the same way. They change the names and
alter the look a little bit. I'd love to play with the Thompson, PPSH, M1 Garand and all the classic guns of old.

Oh another map in a nondescript 'modern' town? Oh another map with 3 main paths and a few buildings in the middle? It's all the same. Sure they can throw in motion sensors and a few more kill streaks...but what exactly has been different between
mw3-blops2-ghosts? Not a whole lot. They introduce a few new gadgets that don't change the core game play and change the name of the guns.

WWII games have a unique feel to them. The past 3 cods have all felt the same. Maybe I'm not old enough to hate WWII games. (COD 2 was my first). It's been 6 titles since a WWII COD. I think it's been long enough. Not to mention the majority of COD
players have never played a WWII COD. cho lose grandpa.

 

@GRADY 1999: Can you imagine a total war game with an undead invasion campaign? The earth being plagued by an army of the undead and it's just your country, the last known organized civilization (I would totally pick Sparta) and it's up to you to send the
dead back to their graves

 

i would love to see a next gen medal of honour game cause i have loved them since the original xbox

 

Doubt they will make another medal of honor for a while considering the recent one flopped...

I thought it wasn't that bad to be honest, they should stick to the World War era though.

 

Thanks for the feedback guys, I will most definitely check out Sniper Elite 3 it sounds like my type of game!! Its interesting reading comments with regards to WW2 being overdone in the past, because in my opinion the futuristic games are now being done
to death this generation and none of them appeal to me unfortunately It would be much better if there was a decent balance of both genres

I thin that ww1,the Korean War and the Vietnam War have been kinda overlooked.

 

To repeat some of the events from them might be a bit too much for games though

 

Lets hope the World War 2 games have stopped, they were seriously over used, became stale and the whole modern war thing right now with imagination placed in is working nicely.

I like what Wolfenstein did but that is 14 years after and does not feel like that same old World War 2 storyline. Anyone who dares to do what Wolf did with a aftermath storyline would be welcomed.
