When you change your gamertag, does it update on other consoles?

Quick question, as the title says.

I just changed my GT, so will it update on other consoles my account is on as well? I just worry about it glitching out on me if I sign in on another console that still shows my old GT.

Afraid not.

When you create a account it is given a randomly generated gamertag,you get to change from that to a gamertag of your choosing once for free.Any other changes must be paid for.It does tell you this.

New to Xbox

If you go to settings -> power there should be an option to set the power option, if you have it to instant on you can download/install updates while the console is off (it'll do it on it's own) if you have it on energy saving it won't.

As to your gamertag, are you certain that you changed your gamertag and not your name? If so, it could just be that it hasn't kicked in yet since it does take some time to fully kick over from the previous gamertag.

Pretty sure that once you connect to another console with your live email that it will update for you.

Since there are changes on your account.. you should remove/delete your profile from the console and re-add it.. you should be able to see your new GT after doing that.

Check your profile in the Xbox app (not the console companion app). See if it shows you as having 2 gamertags. They'll have one on top of the other. The bottom one will probably show the gamertag that shows up for you in game. That's considered a "classic" gamertag. Sometimes when people change their tags, the system keeps their original tag as the tag to show in games that haven't been updated for the new gamertag policy. I know the system does that when people use special characters for their tag, but I'm not sure why it does it when people don't. That tag would have to be changed on a 360.
