When will Xbox support HDR on 1080p?

Hello

I recently purchased myself the 27GL650F LG Gaming monitor. Its a 1080p monitor that supports HDR10 and has two HDMI 2.0 ports up to 144Hz and FreeSync/Gsync support.

That said, Ive been battling to get HDR content to run on 1080p. And after some internet searches it seem I am not to be the only person with this problem. A problem brought up in 2018 already.

Yes, I have the HDR setting enabled within the display settings. However no HDR supported game triggers the HDR mode on my monitor. Which is set to auto detect HDR signal and then enable it.

On PS this problem does not exist, it seem that xbox allows me to enable 4K resolutions, which i assume is just up scaling thats happening. Once i have this enabled, only then does content signal HDR signal and the my monitor enables it.

Its been over three years now, i fail to understand why this has not been patched yet. Unfortunately, HDR is not a setting i can enable on the monitor it self. The source needs to send HDR signal for the monitor to enable it. And right now on the xbox one
x, such signal does not exist for 1080p resolution.

Please help...

Xbox only support hdr on 4k so we that have a xbox series s and 1080p 1440p hdr 120hz screen cannot get hdr because its not 4k. On ps4 it works tho 1080p hdr.

No, this does not solve my issue. When I enable 4k (Mind you, my monitor does NOT support 4k res), it then upscales my res from 1080p to 4k and only then enables HDR on my monitor. Which in the end looks super terrible.

This does not happen on PS4, on PS4 any HDR supported game opens on 1080p and works great, there is no need to upscale my res on PS4 to 4k. Why can the xbox not just support this too?

The number of panels that are not 4k and support HDR are incredibly small. I would say an oversight at worst

People who have these high end monitors tend to be PC exclusive

But the HDR10 standard isn't tied to a resolution, as mentioned before (because it works with other devices). So why not just support the standard in a true fashion rather than limit it?
