When will we get a straight answer on when xbox 360 servers will be available again?

There are numerous reports of outages on the site downdetector.com. Yet somehow Microsoft has NO message on their service status page, which is pretty dishonest. A rep on chat claimed there was "maintenance" going on, which of course isn't mentioned on
the status page either. Why would they do maintenance on a Saturday, when most people will be playing that our out of school and work?

This is definitely a Microsoft issue, not my network. Even though I already knew this based on a traceroute, which after 13 hops, stopped, and never reached the xbox live servers, I went through all 11+ steps on their troubleshooting guide, deleted my profile,
etc. Of course you can't redownload the profile because you cant connect to the servers.

I doubt Im the only one, but Saturday is my day off and the kids are out of school. This is the only day I have to play with them. Microsoft has given no updates, and so far offering no compensation for the lack of service that we are paying for.

Ok, so why hide it from customers and pretend its not even happening? If Playstation was dishonest, id consider moving from them too, and not to Xbox given the experience here.

If PlayStation had the same issues, you would say that you will move to Xbox. Please don't use that as ammunition, in a situation that is out of your control.

Hopefully the servers will be up again soon, in the meantime, I'd consider the reasons why this happened, including nationwide outages, poor weather conditions and possible maintenance that might not have gone as planned. There even may be the possibility
of DDOS.

Still no Call promised half hour ago. Seems service is out in California. Just have to wait and see I guess...

Ok, but they can't even mention it is down on the site, so people can not waste hours troubleshooting? At least acknowledge it in some measure of honesty?

The problem here is that if there is a problem which maintenance is required upon it's not as if it always follows a schedule, so it's not always possible to avoid peak times - which I suspect is what could possibly be ongoing at this time. It's not convenient,
nor is it great, but afraid sometimes that happens, if they also have no concrete timetable to fixing it then they'd be loathed to say "it'll be up in X" because you know if they miss that they'd be slaughtered for it.
