As the title says. DVR only supports stereo, and when sound is set to anything else it just doesn't record game sound. It's been so long since the app release and it still hasn't been adressed...

    Surround Sound not completely working

An optical cable simply can't pass 5.1/7.1 uncompressed, only HDMI or multichannel analog can (the latter of which the Xbox doesn't have). As such your headset (presumably optical) does NOT and cannot support 5.1/7.1 uncompressed. Instead it supports 5.1
Dolby Digital (DD=compressed), and virtually creates 7.1 from the 5.1 through processing (optical can't pass 7.1 DD+ either, only 5.1). Currently, the Xbox One cannot output Dolby Digital 5.1 over optical, which is why you do not get surround sound in your
headset. It is also not surprising that your TV is not handling 5.1/7.1 uncompressed properly, as that is something you really need an audio receiver to handle. What is probably happening is your TV is downmixing the uncompressed 5.1/7.1 to some sort of stereo
(2.1?), resulting is loss of some audio channels. The rest you hear as"virtual surround sound" created by your LG system.

The solution for you is to get a proper audio/video receiver (recommend Onkyo or Denon) that has HDMI inputs, can handle uncompressed 5.1/7.1, etc.; OR wait until the One can output DD 5.1 over optical, When the latter happens, keep in mind that most TVs
will NOT pass DD 5.1 out over optical. Perhaps yours does (some Vizio models do). If yours doesn't, you will never get true DD 5.1 (just because you hear sound from all speakers doesn't mean you are getting true DD 5.1) from your current setup and would need
to run the optical out directly to your LG system, instead of through the TV. Hope that helps.

Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible games not outputting 7.1 audio from HDMI

    Hey there,

The Xbox 360 console doesn't support 7.1 surround, only 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS. Due to this, it is normal that backward compatible games are outputting 5.1 surround. On your Xbox 360 setup, it sounds you have it set up with Pro Logic IIx to simulate 7.1
surround sound, but the Xbox 360 console doesn't support true 7.1 surround sound.

Hope this helps clear it up.

This whole HDMI bitrate vs 7.1 uncompressed is driving me nuts?!?! What is the best/correct setting?!?!

What happens when you play other 5.1 content, like from a DVD or Netflix? I have a 5.1 setup and whenever I watch stereo content it continues to output 5.1 PCM, but with sound only coming from the fronts, leaving the center and rears blank. I assume it
would do the same in your 7.1 setup; where if the source is 5.1 it would continue to output a 7.1 signal, but leave the rear surrounds blank.

7.1 uncompressed will not use the side surrounds when watching tv! Please fix with an update.

This has been a problem since the Ones release and not been fixed. Richie...ugh, Yes most are in 5.1, Sooooo the One should either matrix the rears, or duplicate the rears with the l/r surrounds. There should be sound coming out of the main surrounds,
NOT just the rear surrounds. For example- 5.1 should be coming out of the main surrounds, and matrixed to the rear surrounds, OR just duplicate the main surrounds to the rear surrounds as well in a 7.1 setup. Right now, all 5.1 from a directv receiver that
sends dolby is silent on the main surrounds, and only using the rear surrounds in a 7.1 setup. Ps. My system is setup correctly, so no bs checking setup posts, etc. Something is off on the coding, and needs to be fixed.
