When will an update address more display options

can anyone tell me or ask Microsoft when there will be an update that addresses limited display options

i want the range thats on both 360 and ps4

The article also when on to note that those with the "Instant On" feature enabled will be first to get the update since it will roll out in waves. Everyone else will received it by Thursday 12/12/13. I for one am very happy to see Microsoft quickly begin to fix the many small issues or bug currently found on the Xbox One. We can only hope they continue to be persistent and hasten.

Hi, the display discovery option is on your console in the display settings not the tv. I will have a look around for more information regarding your tv.

Hi Matey my main gaming tv is only 1080i so i have that setting for both my 360 and ps4 so i want it for xbox one also

720p and 1080p is not good enough

Ya, he's not wrong Johnny. I feel your frustration at the lack of options when it comes to resolution, but technically as of right now it's not a technical issue (i.e. it ain't broken).

Head over to the feedback forums and post up there. They've been doing a pretty good job of listening to people and putting out resolutions. It may take some time, but at least for now you may just be stuck with 720p.

 

Lots of people have been asking for 1080i output since the Xbox One released. And Microsoft hasn't done a thing to address this issue. They have not added any resolution options. They continue to act like its not a problem when it is a big problem for
many people.

Not only that, but the Xbox One's scaling to 1080p is resulting in a loss of quality:

As that article states you are still better off "letting your TV do the upscaling, to lose the ugly crushed blacks." That works for 720p games, but for 1080i cable box content, users still have no choice in letting their TV do the upscaling because the
Xbox One doesn't output 1080i. This is yet another reason why we need a 1080i output patch.

 

Phugor, that's all well and good in a certain perspective, but there are several things to consider in that decision.

To play devils advocate, you have to understand that in giving you what your asking for it's A) a step backwards and B) not going to be taken care of overnight. They had to make a system with thoughts to at least the next decades worth of technology and
they haven't made an HD TV that didn't support 1080p in several years. At some point you have to make the decision to look forward and not behind, especially if you want to optimize your capabilities. Forcing game publishers to stop rendering their games
in 720p and 1080i and start rendering in 1080p+ is going to be the preference of the majority and ultimately the future.

The flipside is they could opt to give you guys what you're asking for and create that option. I imagine the system has the hardware to do it and it would only take a system update to fix it. Hopefully it's something they can get to quickly and give you
guys that option.
