When to expect 3D Blu-ray and Dolby Digital support/patches?

Craig, I get what you're saying. They pulled you in with the premise of something and then they opted out of that and it changed the scope of your plans to buy an Xbox One. At that point it probably would have been prudent to get your money back if you
didn't want the system for what it was.

Like it or not, the 30 pages of people talking about this issue are mostly posts from the same people over and over who also happen to be posting up on other threads about the same thing. The length of this thread is in no way any kind of validation when
at the end of the day, you're still the minority. People aren't buying 3D TV's. Period. It was a fad that has started dying out. Hence the reason why they now cost the same as a regular TV and in some cases even less. People don't want them, or in cases
like one of my kids, can't use them.

Is the hardware capable of doing? Sure. Is the necessity there to add the compatibility, not necessarily. But that's just a business minded decision and my own personal opinion. MS could totally decided to add that functionality in the next system update,
but we won't know until it actually happens.

Actually I can tell you it won't be in the next system update, but maybe August.

 

Well, I can tell you one thing, since launch the only decent thing they've added is support for Dolby digital over optical. I can tell you that I'd use 3D more than Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, or the countless other apps that a minority of a minority of
a minority use. It's better to lead the back than follow in the leaders pathway. Netflix and Amazon instant video are the only real apps I use on xbox. I'll tell you what would be cool, find a way to do 3D video chat w/skype on the xbox one. Idk if the
xbox one camera can capture 3D but since it can sense depth, there may be a way.

@bigben fine...look over on the xbox support forums where they have polls for what people would like to see next. 3D support is one of the leaders and if they combined the threads it would probably be number one. Your whole 3D is dead thing is just a trendy
topic based on one article from a stupid cnet writer. Everyone still makes 3D TVs except Vizio, whose customers value price more than features. And why do you care so much if people want 3D and you don't? Is it some ego thing? Do you just think you're smarter
than everyone else and by prognosticating 3D is dead that somehow makes you wise? Or are you just a typical obnoxious Steelers fan looking to start a fight?

Yeup still waiting for 3d support. I love that Microsoft listens to what it's fans want that take the time to post on the forums. Wooo it's only been about 8 months?

 

Count me in for wanting 3d support. The whole reason for buying the Xbox One was to consolidate everything into it.

 

Tired of having to bypass my xbox one just to watch 3D on my tv. Need this update desperately.

 

I'm buying PS4s as it's likely they will do 3D before MS. Kind of my way of tearing down a wall of being locked into one system when they are going to keep stalling. Tired of the wait and be patient line. I like my X1 and think it's got a lot going. But
snap achievements before 3D support? Really?

 

Nice burn towards MS Barrett77! It's sad it's true too. All MS did before this console came out was hype it's "next gen capabilities" and future proofing but it's really a let down in way too many departments considering MS had 10 years to plan their "
attack" against the other consoles. I think the PS3 is more advanced than xbox one. For all you 4k tv buyers out there, download the Netflix app directly onto your tv cuz that's the only way your getting 4k anytime soon.

 

I've just bought a 42" Blaupunkt 3D TV for less than £200 new! I think the need for 3D support will increase over the next 6 months as 3D TV's drop in price. Come on M$ pull your fingers out or is Xbone not powerful enough? Give me another reason to keep
my Xbone other than Killer Instinct!

 

Warrior, not trying to burn MS as I think the X1 solves a lot of issues like cooling and the system design is also much improved I think over the old system in many ways and especially the controllers.

But you're right! They have had a long time to plan for the X1, and I think because they had a lot of this crap in mind about no optical drive, no reselling of games, etc that it made them have to re do so much of the software it was just silly. They are
still playing catchup in that regard I think and trying to outpace Sony by adding features.

If they really wanted to impress people, they would at the least give customers what the PS3 and X360 could do. Battery notifications on controller and screen, 3D support, and speed up the UI. In general I'm happy with my choice to buy the X1. I'm just
at a point where they aren't seeing anymore money till these things get resolved. Sony is guilty too of not having 3D, but I've heard some think it might be mid July that Sony delivers in a larger update as to this point it's just been stability improvements.
