When "The Enforcement Team" Get It Wrong

A short story of injustice by a group who act as judge, jury and executioner.

I was playing Modern Warfare 3 online with my Xbox 360, when I met "Mr Invisible". I'm sure we have all met this kind of cheat who runs around, invisible to everyone, chalking up ridiculous scores. I would dearly like to name and shame the player, but that
is probably inappropriate. The only way I could identify him was with the Killcam.

I then made a mistake. I sent him (I'm assuming he is a "he") a message on the lines of, "What's the point?"

He replies by inviting me to a private session. I refuse, but curiosity gets the better of me and perhaps I would have the chance to play him on equal terms. So I "join session in progress".

I join the match. The guy is standing right in front of me, dressed as a sniper, jumping up and down. Suddenly there was a noise like a grenade kill and my screen froze momentarily as if I had been killed by a grenade.

I return to main menu and notice that my rank has gone down from the highest to the lowest. Then my prestige score rose from 3 to 10, then my gamerscore rose from 7K to 42K!

I contacted Microsoft support by chat, opened a case; but we could not restore my previous profile. I contacted Activision who informed me that the game was too old for them to restore my rank.

Then... I received an email from the Xbox Live Enforcement Team telling me that I had been banned for three weeks for illegal interference with my profile! After passing through a ridiculous and pointless series of ten questions about Xbox security policies,
I was able to ask for a case review. Yes, my profile had been illegally interfered with - I had told them so, I had even told them who did it. I gave them the support casse number. I have been a loyal Microsoft and Xbox customer since time began... why cheat
    now?

    Decision upheld.

After the three week ban, my connection was restored and my gamerscore had been reset from 7K to 0.

Impossible to contact the enforcement team by any means; apparently not even Microsoft Support can do it. They are faceless, nameless beings, who can't understand that sometimes the customer is right, completely disconnected from other services, so arrogant
that they believe that there is no one out there smarter than them. They act as judge, jury and executioner, and if you don't like it... tough.

Well, no. Not "tough". My Xbox 360 is reaching retirement and I've been watching the evolution of PS4 and XBox One for long enough to be able to make an informed decision between Sony and Microsoft.

I'm not bitter or angry: the feelings are much stronger than those. When Batman and Robin from the Enforcement Team get it wrong, and I can assure them that got it wrong here, not only do they lose credibility but they also lose customers.

Microsoft: show us the faces behind the Enforcement team. Give us names, email addresses and direct telephone numbers. When they become accountable to the customers, then we might see some justice.

    :)

"Just look at the number of negative comments here... Are all these people liars? Because that's the way we're made to feel."

    - If you believe that the Xbox Enforcement Team goes out of their way to suspend or ban people then why would they post the specific Code of Conduct and the Case Review process.

    - If you don't like the setup here for enforcement, you are so going to love what playstation does.

"By the way, the "sticky" on the "Enforcement Policy" is locked by the way."

    - Yes, that is correct. That way it's always at the top of the page for people to read. No conspiracy there.

"Microsoft: show us the faces behind the Enforcement team. Give us names, email addresses and direct telephone numbers."

    - Really?! I mean that. Think about that, really?!

    - The reason for the gamer tag is for you and everyone else to maintain a level of identity protection

    - The reason for suspensions or bans are for people who violate the policy in place.

Long story short, play by the rules and you're fine. If you can't then maybe this is not for you.
