When playing split screen games, can't hear other player thru headset

My wife & I play split screen multi-player online games. We use Turtle Beach's XO Sevens. She can't hear me & I can't hear her thru the headset, but we can both talk to and hear the rest of the party. I can understand the assumption that we would not
need to hear each other thru game chat since we're sitting right next to each other, but it's a flawed assumption since a significant number of players use NOISE CANCELLING headphones. I searched this issue and went thru several steps to resolve with no success.

In Split-Screen, both players get all game audio when using headset adapter

A: It supports separate audio streams for single player multiplayer. Each player can hear
their own chat and audio through their controller.

When playing call of duty in split-screen I hear all of the game sound from the other player along with my own when using the headset adapter. This was one of the main reasons I purchased the adapter. This means that while we're in different parts of a map
I can hear footsteps and gunshots from the other split-screen player's game.

Does anyone know if this is a known issue?

 

How to play with your friends?

We have 3 player split-screen going, but when we do this we can't invite other friends when we do this. However, when our other friends are playing 2 player split-screen, we are able to join their game (all 3 of us, making 5 players total on 2 xbox's).

What am I missing? How does the 3 player split-screen xbox invite other friends to join us?

 

There would be no troubleshooting steps you could take to resolve this as it's the way it's designed to work, at least for now, which seems to be what you have found out.

 

With this issue affecting the quality of split screen play, is this on the radar to fix anytime in the near future? While I'm not a programmer, it would appear to be a relatively easy fix. Thanks for replying.

 

I have the same issue. There should be an option somewhere in the menu that fixes this.
