when is the cloud coming?

@Hairy Here we go again. Step back and look at the big picture for once.

-

24 hour check-ins ensured EVERY SINGLE XBOX ONE had a internet connection. Funny you bring up Kinect because its the same concept for every Xbox One bundled with Kinect.

-

Games are developed with the lowest common denominator in mind to ensure the most people can buy it. Now that there is complete offline play, that means there is no ALWAYS ONLINE ecosystem to work with for developers.

-

Random developers biting the bullet and using the cloud 100% for their game doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of gaming on Xbox One. It just means that developer took the risk.

-

No it would not have hindered their original view hence the support of physical media on Xbox One.

-

Either way, nothing you said proves that the cloud can't make the Xbox One a more powerful console so good day.

2. The cloud can have many uses. It can process ANYTHING digitally. It's up to the developer on how or wants the cloud to process.

Yes but you have to remember that what ever is processes on the backend has to be processed on the front end, the xbox one still needs to decode and reprocess whatever the server is sending.

Take Titanfall for example all the AI programming is done on the console, the dedicated servers are used for location purposes kind of like a MMO, the cloud cannot change the AI's difficulty as tweeted by Abbie from Respawn

Im sure the cloud can do certain things, but I cant see it doing massive graphically leaps due to the limitation of the GPU, can it offload CPU stuff sure, but people keep forgetting that the Xbox One still needs to process the data
Agreed, but it can assist any particular process and Im sure the cloud is capable of helping out with AA stuff or adding textures to certain aspects.

I would love to hear from development on who's right or wrong.

5. Yes, Burst. It is not here we go again. I always look at the big Picture, Sometimes i believe it is you, whose vision is blinkered by Microsoft and the almighty cloud, and their policies. I rarely see you ever say a bad thing about Microsoft and the Xbox
One, from the reveal to Now.

-

24 hour check in, only ensured people had the right to play games. It had nothing to do with access to cloud. As Microsoft could not predict, which people would have Fibre Optic, Broadband, DSL, Satellite. Mobile. Or even if they would be online or not.
Just check in once a day. Yes, it ensured everyone had internet, But that does not dictate what type of internet

-

Only a couple of those mentioned above is capable of handling the data needed for a full Cloud Ecosystem as you put it. And please tell me where biting the bullet comes into it much. Microsoft have already said that they would offer Servers and such to the
Devs for free. So there is no moneys there to worry about. Heck, Microsoft could take the first step, with one of their own studios. Also, if as a lot of people like to say, why did we lose the 24 Hour check in, it was a minority, If it's a minority. Then
a Dev/Pub, will not be taking that much of risk.

-

Stop saying Always Online, No One has lost Always Online. What part of that concept, can you not grasp. The Xbox One lost the 24 Hour check in. It pertained to the Licensing of games purchased on Discs, and the so called Family Share plan, That was never
fully explained. If they had not lost the 24 hour check in. The would have sold a lot less consoles, and then it would have been even worse

-

Please if you would like, tell me where Microsoft said Always Online was their Policy, and they reversed it

-

No matter if you had the 24 Hour check in. That did not mean that people would be on "ALWAYS ONLINE".

@Hairy So what if I decide to gripe about MS in other avenues where I know intelligent conversation is guaranteed?

-

I'm not rehashing what I've said to you as I've already answered most of your post though I will clarify what “biting the bullet" meant. Currently, making a game that uses the cloud 100% cuts out potential offline only customers. This is the Dev biting the
bullet before the game releases.

-

You seem to operate under the assumption that I think “the cloud" would've been a godsend to gaming Nov. 22 2013 when in reality I'm thinking long term as I always have. Continuously pointing out the current state of internet does absolutely nothing. In
fact why don't you spend that energy to try and get the world up to speed instead of asking others to wait for them? That's exceedingly more productive then pointing out the current internet infrastructure.

Devs cant do alot of stuff on the cloud as the game has to work offline aswell. Would have seen more had MS stuck to the always on policy.

Sir, I will remember that when is the cloud coming? :p

As far as the power of cloud goes. I'm excited to see what it can do. I would like to see developers use it for weather conditions most of all. Take Call of Duty for example. Picture Nuketown on a bright sunny day. Then when you next play it, its rain and
thunder, then when you next play it, its snowing. So on and so forth. Stuff like that is what I ould like the cloud to bring to the table. Little things make a big difference in my book.

It really is sad how many people believe that the "magical cloud" is somehow going to make their console better. Those who actually have any clue how coding and servers work have been trying to tell people otherwise, but I suppose some just simply know better
than those who actually work in computer programming to make a living.. Keep waiting around... Let me know how many unicorns you see while you're waiting too. They'll be there, I promise! when is the cloud coming? ;)
Computer programmers are a dime a dozen, and rarely understand how actual hardware works. They do not code API's for the hardware they use, they only use the API's. They also know how to spit out terrible code however. I can hire a computer programmer from
India or China for $10 a day. Also to note that the "Cloud" you speak of is actually the Windows Azure network, which has been around for almost 4 years now. It has successfully been used to deliver real live server infrastructure for business since such time.
That's right "Real Live Server Infrastructure". Please stop talking about things you clearly don't understand.

Lmao ... Crafty Mr Cloud ;-)

But I totally agree with you, it's the little things that make a big difference. People have said that Forza 5 and The Cloud doesn't really do much, meaning it only downloads your friends Drivatars into your game, ok this might not be a lot in one sense but
as I've said a few times, it's totally made this like no other racing game I've played, meaning no-more boring/predictable AI, no race is ever the same, it's made a HUGE difference to way it's made the whole experience feel to me.

So no I don't think it can make games run at 2080p and 4 trillion frames per second on Xbox One but I'm excited to see how developers use it in the future because it's already impressed me this early on.

The point was is that it wasn't a question to you. Don't butt in when the adults are talking.

Again, stop trying to make assumptions. My question was to Lestat, if you are that intrusive, feel free to follow the conversation between him and I.

when is the cloud coming?

The cloud will be more used as the XBO advances. It will allow games to off load things in games that are less important and will not notice due to any potential lag issues allowing the XBO to use more of its resources on important things. It gets very complex
if you read into all the advanced tech specs. It has not even been all announced. It will only get better and better.
