when is the cloud coming?

Forza runs in 1080p because it contains a lot of pre-rendered environment.

 

It really is sad how many people believe that the "magical cloud" is somehow going to make their console better. Those who actually have any clue how coding and servers work have been trying to tell people otherwise, but I suppose some just simply know better
than those who actually work in computer programming to make a living.. Keep waiting around... Let me know how many unicorns you see while you're waiting too. They'll be there, I promise!

 

@lestat software wise it can be offloaded, many things can get pre rendered on the cloud. This is why Sony as we'll is so eager to deploy their cloud

The only thing DayZ does thru the "cloud" (which is market speak for internet) is the dedicated servers that host players and AI.

 

The point was is that it wasn't a question to you. Don't butt in when the adults are talking.

Its astounding how many MS haters bash the cloud yet when Sony announced PS Now(Cloud Streaming Service) everyone praised it as the second coming of Christ. (Not you specifically Lestat) Very funny how the Cloud wont be to handle simplistic tasks yet, it
will be able to stream Full HD games no problems. #IgnoranceIsBliss

 

I've never believed "The Cloud" was this magical thing with unlimited power and I still don't but I always said, if it only improves my experience a little then that's good right?

Remember it's early days yet but I'm really impressed with how it was used in Forza 5 and the Drivatars, this alone made this race title stand out from any other, for me anyway, no more boring/predictable AI, every race felt different.

Now I'm thinking what could it add to say a First Person Shooter? or other types of game.

Again, no I don't believe it will make the Xbox One twice as powerful but I'm really excited to see how developers use it in future.

 

Ive gota say,lego marvel uses the cloud for just more than scores and leaderboards,because their are no scores and leaderboards,and you cannot play it offline with a profile,and no saves or achievements without a profile.you can only make a profile when
the xbox 1 is online.Just wait and see about the xbox one being 4 x as powerful.The disbelief of this,we aint gonna see any of it in the 1st year plain and simple,the public in general just aint got the quality internet to have it working correctly.and whats
the point in providing something to ths masses when only a few can fully enjoy it,its bad sales.check the broadband testing thats been happening in london recently,all this cloud buisness relys on that.

 

I've already said losing the always online feature likely gutted the cloud future. If developers have to take offline players into consideration all the time then it will take a long time to take off, if at all. However its totally possible for the cloud
to make Xbox One stronger. People can point out bad connections in the world all they want but that's only proves what's hindering it, not that its impossible to do.

Always Online was not a feature that was lost. 24 hour check-ins were. So no-one has lost anything in that regard. Always Online is still there, and a lot of people are still Always Online.

Developers do not have to, if they were to make a fully cloud exclusive game available, with the the game stating it needs the clouds full potential, and a minimum upload and download speed. Like any game that requires Kinect. Just that the game requires
say a minimum upload of 5Mbs and a Download of 20Mbs. And the reason you won't see one. There would not be enough people able to meet those demands.

And if people keep pointing out all the bad connections (don't forget Amount caps) in the world. Which is hindering it. It would have hindered Microsoft's original view. Which is a good thing they steered clear of it.

The Cloud was bigged up, as you well know Burst, and we had our serious conversations about it, many moons before the X1 was released. And even then, a few of us, stated, the bald outright lie of what they were suggesting. "Unlimited Power of the cloud".
I had numerous arguments about that quote right there. But i was always shouted down by blinkered people, blinded by Microsofts selling tactics. The world is not ready for that sort of console.

With that said, I believe the Cloud can be a real help to Microsoft and Gaming, but used in different ways, Like keeping open, changing worlds on servers, that can be played upon and used.
