When is Microsoft reseting the v1 gamertags.

Does anybody know when Microsoft is reseting the v1 gamertags?

They started freeing them up a couple of years ago. There's no word on if they are still releasing them or when they will release more. They went pretty quickly and a lot of people tried selling them so some of them got banned.

Not sure what a v1 gamertag is but after what happened last time they freed up some gamertags i wouldn't expect them to do it again anytime soon.

 

It wont happen again. You can thank the scumbags that abused it by taking all the names for themselves and trying to make a profit by selling them.

 

I'd really like for Microsoft to free up the gamertags that haven't seen activity over a prolonged period of time. Really lusting the "Kanaye" gamertag but the account has been inactive since 2008, I think?

 

^^ You should have Kanye West. Then when you play CoD or whatever, it will say you were killed by Kanye West thus making them Kanye haters and Pharrel fans instead. Plus let's face it, your gamertag is pretty much Kanye already.

 

EVERYONE online calls me Kanye, Joe. You're not missing anything.

 

They most likely won't do it again, but I'd like to see some sort of system for acquiring gamertags like those. Perhaps, instead of pathetic losers on the internet trying to make money off of them, Microsoft themselves could implement a system to sell those
gamertags. It'd be frustrating to do, though.

 

Why would you need to change your tag?

Unless you cheated, hacked, or were such a jerk online that you have troll stalkers?

 

@Azrael008uk - People change gamertags all the time. Most of the those do it for either clans, or simply because they simply want a better name.

 

Azrael: As a former PS3 player, you've no idea how much I appreciate the option of changing my online name for a few bucks. There was a time when I grew tired of my online name on the PSN but I couldn't be bothered to start over. Granted, I've never changed
mine because of me joining a clan but rather because I got tired of an incarnation of my name.

You may not see value in it, but some people do. I know I totally appreciate having the option.

Yea... They tried this before and failed miserably, so I wouldn't expect another attempt for quite a while until the new boss forgets how bad of an idea the old boss said it was.

 

I would prefer if MS scapped all Gamertags that have been inactive for over 6 months.

They thing is, they shouldn't announce that they're going to do it.
