When i sign in to xbox for windows, the window just turns grey.

Have you tried to see if there are updates on the Microsoft Store?

Solved the problem by changing my primary/active email on my account back to what it first was, bit weird.

Think i solved it. the problem was that i changed my primary email on my microsoft account and seemingly the xbox app cannot handle this.

Switched back to my original email and its working again. hopefully they fix this at some point.
