when I go into the xbox app and try to download minecraft

These steps can help you, give it a try.

Check for updates on Windows Update, update everything including optional/additional updates.

1. Logout from Xbox app and Microsoft Store app

2. Look for the Xbox app and Microsoft Store app in the Windows menu, right-click, click app settings and then click terminate, restore and reset.

3. Clear the store cache type ''wsreset'' in the Windows bar, run as admin, and wait for the screen to close and open the store automatically.

4. Open the Microsoft Store app, click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner>downloads updates>get updates and update everything.

5. Restart your PC, log in to both apps and see if that solves the problem.

Please check if you can access the game by following the steps I’m going to share below:

-Download and open the Xbox app on your PC
-Verify that you sign in the Xbox app and the Microsoft account with the account that you used to purchase Minecraft.
-On the Xbox app, search for the Minecraft launcher once you click on Library and download it.

Note: in case the Minecraft launcher doesn’t appear there, look for it and download it by clicking “Microsoft Store” on the Xbox app.

-Once downloaded the Minecraft launcher, access with the account that owns the game and try launching Minecraft for Windows when the launcher downloads all the dependencies.

I tried restarting my phone, but do you mean unistalling and reinstalling the xbox app or the minecraft app?In the past, I had never played minecraft on the same device before. I unistalled and reinstalled the Xbox app but it still shows the same thing
when i try to sign in. Could it be because I downloaded minecraft from google play store?

The Xbox (Beta) app recently got updated out of Beta. Try going to the Microsoft Store app to download Minecraft and while you're there, click on the top right icon (the one with the Down Arrow) or the "..." and click on "Downloads and Updates".

Also, the Xbox (Beta) app currently only shows Game Pass games. Minecraft PC unfortunately is not on Game Pass.

Please try to download other apps or games from the Microsoft Store to test whether the problem only occurs when downloading Minecraft Launcher. If the problem only occurs when downloading Minecraft Launcher, try downloading the Xbox App and then downloading Minecraft Launcher through the Xbox App. Please change the save path when downloading.

If you encounter problems downloading all games, press the Windows key and search for Services. In Services, confirm whether the following services are enabled and set to Automatic. If not, enable these services and set the startup type to Automatic.
