When are we.going to start experiencing cloud gaming?

Dont forget tiling resources reduces the packet size sent from cloud to console. Unlike the size that a rendered object now would be to send. Smaller packets could sit in the 8gb nand flash at certain points in game ready to be called into play locally.
These may refresh as you progress through different scenes and levels. Only my guess and speculation to how it could work. Dont shoot When are we.going to start experiencing cloud gaming? :)

  2. I believe it was Nvidia who had a video of what the cloud could do for gaming and graphics. They even had latency scenarios in that video. What I saw was impressive enough to believe that something along these lines can be done. I think the potential is
    there.

@Hairy And now we've finally got the meat of things as to why cloud processing likely won't pick up anytime soon with "Console games are made to work on a specific Hardware (Designated from the start of its life span)". The always online, always connected
ecosystem MS envisioned was shunted before release and will likely play a key factor in cloud processing hardly if at all being used by 3rd party developers. Its the same reason behind Kinects inclusion with X1.

    -

You can bring up the 40% of last gen that didn't ever get online all you want but now you must show me a SINGLE game that has sold 40+ million copies to represent the entirety of XBL members. I eagerly await your link.

    -

Even by cutting the pool in half there is still plenty of potential customers (well there will be later in the X1s life span) to make a game successful as evidenced by the disparity in copies of games sold vs. the amount of 360s sold.

    -

Titanfall has no offline play yet it has no problem cutting its pool of potential buyers. Know why? Its because you develop games for your target audience. A game like Dragon Age 3: Inquisition would have to gamble on using cloud processing for the X1 version
because the internet connection requirement was removed from the console.

    -

"Cloud power" is effectively limitless as they could keep adding servers as the install base grew so being 3x or 30x as strong with buzzword power is far from wrong lol. I watched the Nvidia cloud demonstration so contrary to popular belief I don't hang
on every word MS says as my gospel but you keep believing I do.

  5. My guess is before you load the game, the cloud will calculate the weather and other fairly insignificant niceities using Tiled Resources and then queue them up to throw them into play. Your Xbox One will therefore have control of the weather so it can sync
rain and your clothes getting wet for example. The whole effect was calculated and sent back down before the storm even started, or maybe as you initally loaded the game. Having ten minutes of effects ready on the console would mean the sky is the limit on
the effects after that. Small packets and a 10 minute buffer would need something awful to happen to remove that buffer and get lag.

  6. Burst - 40 Million copies what are you talking about. I am talking about standard cutting you potential sales base down in numbers.

On the old system (Xbox 360) - You made a game, If it was a normal game, you could have access to each an every customer that had an xbox 360, and everyone could play. Then you had the odd game like Shadowfall, and Final Fantasy XI. And these games are made
for a specific purpose, and you have instantly limited your userbase by 40%.

Now take Titalfall (As you like to quote) - Say the Xbox One has sold 4million units to date. and we take the standard of (not 40%) 30% have not put the console online for what-ever reason. That's 1.2million lost. So that is access to only 2.8 million. Also
bear in mind that most gamers will have either an Xbox 360 or a PC. (now everyone knows that Titanfall is not going to be as good as the Xbox One version - But it is the same game in essence, especially with everyone shouting that graphics is not the be all
and end all) but the do have nearly 36 million more consoles they can access as of right now, than the Xbox One.

So as the game is using the Azure servers from Microsoft, why are they not using the extra 3x power? (I would like an answer) because apparently it is there free to use. and they have said it. So why is the game not running at full capable Resolution and
FPS. Again i am going to say it is not limitless - your words - by the way, it is not limitless - I suggest you check out what the word limitless mean. It will not matter how many servers you add, you still have a limit. You could still fill those servers
up. Limitless, Unlimited, Infinty are all concepts the human mind cannot encompass, and should not be used in conjuction that has a definable limit.

And then there's there PC Version, Even though the Xbox One version is using the cloud (Sarcasm again for you) and it uses upto 3 x the power of the Xbox One. Why is the PC version still so much better looking. (Yes people have said it looks muddy, but with
tweaking you can adjust that, and all graphics have not been finalised and updated). Now to think how many PC's are out there on the market already. And you have a game that you can finally see why they released on 3 platforms. Because they would not ever
make enough money on just the Xbox One to Justify it.

The Cloud demo by Nvidea is excellent, but again, (this is getting repetitive). It can only be as good as your connection, latency, ping and other factors. Which quite a lot of people in specific countries do not have access to, cannot afford or cannot be
bothered to obtain. Blimey i have seen demo's on the old Kinect attached to a PC by independent owners who have sliced and diced them to work on a PC, do far better things than Microsoft ever imagined, just check out Youtube.

I would just like to ask you a couple of questions before i go.

If Microsoft already had the power of 3 Xbox One's in the Cloud, why did they build a console?

The average US user i suppose spends an average of $1500 to $2000 over say 5 years of a console's life. Why did they not just charge say $250 a year for playing these games direct of the server at 3x Xbox One capabilities?

And finally, why are you so adamant that everything Microsoft says and does is like spun gold?

I ask that last one, because i ever, very rarely see you say anything remotely bad about anything to do with Microsoft or the Xbox One. And you defend every single action of theirs, like they were to die for. Everything i put down is a logical way to look
at things, a realist point of view. They have shown nothing that equals the power of 3 Xbox One's in the Cloud, They have nothing (Announced) planned to use the power of 3 Xbox One's in the Cloud. So why use it as a selling tool? It just puts people's backs
up, because they were expecting from the reveal to E3 an all singing, all dancing, every App, Media function, and Cloud Powered Console, that just hasn't materialised. And we can say give them time all we want, But if it didn't have it when people purchased
it, and still doesn't now, How can people not expect a few people to be annoyed.

  7. I am hoping that online only games are using cloud. (Elder scrolls online, titanfall,) it would be nice if halo used online.

Cloud will be valid only when they offshore data that if lagged it won't affect the game play, this can be done by off shoring things like weather effect.

But again, no dev will put the effort and time on this, unless first parties do that.

Lloydy I think we both know why.

Zurich Canton, Switzerland here, nearest supported servers are in another country (usually either UK or France, once German) and I still get 0 lag. Sorry for your (gaming experience) loss.
