Got me an xbox, xbox 360, x1, surface, windows phone. Guess I qualify to use the forums ta.

 

I had a bunch of lag playing Forza and I live in Florida.

 

This got delayed since people got all upset over Always Online. From what I hear, TF will be using the Cloud for some offloading, and they are already using it in Forza with Drivetars. I think QB is digging deep in the cloud catagory though.

 

Mavr1k - There was never any always online....... So people did not get upset over that. As you can still be always online by choice.

Zurich Canton, Switzerland here, nearest supported servers are in another country (usually either UK or France, once German) and I still get 0 lag. Sorry for your (gaming experience) loss.

 

@Hairy You are 100 percent correct. Technology does not evolve nor does it move forward in any capacity......(Sarcasm)

You can try to explain away how the cloud can't be used for graphics but I believe videos showing cloud processing used for lighting to be more credible than you. Sorry!

 

Cloud will be valid only when they offshore data that if lagged it won't affect the game play, this can be done by off shoring things like weather effect.

But again, no dev will put the effort and time on this, unless first parties do that.

Technology can only move as fast as daily life can keep up with it. While you and i may have superfast 60Meg Fibre Optic Unlimted Broadband. (which i do with Virgin Media) Most people do not. And utilising the Cloud for heavy intense lighting graphic processing
or shading or distance rendering or many other things, denies millions of people from experiencing a game the way it should be, and gimps your userbase.

Console games are made to work on a specific Hardware (Designated from the start of it's life span), if you start changing the rules of that hardware, by adding unknowns to the equation, you wittle your perspective sales base.

Now Some developer/Publisher could make a game using the power of the cloud to render specific areas, scene's, etc. And make that a must have for a game, and give a minimum Upload and Download Requirement, which they would have to do by Law. And be close
to a server so your Ping is not terrible. (Just look at the Ping thread from the old Forum and see what terrible pings they were getting). And your sales base would be so crippled you would be lucky to get 30-50% of the owners on board. (bearing in mind, that
40% of the last gen never went online. I did not include those)

Microsoft said and i quote "The unlimited Power of the Cloud will make your console like 4 consoles" with 3 consoles in the cloud. - That is just wrong, as even 300,000 servers, still have a limited amount of power, when you consider they also have to cope
with Multiplayer, Hosting data, games, Xbox Live, Customer Details, Drivatars, and any manner of things.

Burst i was not asking to be credible, you can take anything i say with a pinch of salt. But you cannot deny the realism in it. If you require to live with you head in the clouds, believing every single word that is said to you, in an effort to part with
your money, Then so be it. But first and foremost every company is going to make you believe the item is the best thing since sliced bread. It is trying to see past that, and to the truth inside

 

When did MS say it would be like four consoles? I missed that bit. I suggest we wait and see.

Take your pick Fatal. It was before Launch. That is the problem with believing it. You would need the best internet, best ping, and as close to server as possible for those statements.

As an edit. Why would they make a console, if you could have the power of 3 Xbox One's in the Cloud. Why not rent the servers say for £200 a year to play on, that way they could entice the whole PC Gaming Community. There would be no need for a console,
if you just connected to the cloud for your ultimate gaming experience
