When are we going to see a return on our investment?

When the Xbox One first came out there was a flurry of exclusives which tempted me to buy the new console at a pretty hefty price. Since then there seems to have been little to distinguish between the 360 and the One with publishers releasing the same games
for both platforms (occasionally with very marginal graphical improvement) and a very similar experience all-round. Don't get me wrong - I love the new console and I have high hopes for the future but at the moment I'm struggling to justify early adoption.

And before any Sony fanboys peddle their predictable diatribe, I see this as a common situation for both the XBO and PS4 - there just doesn't seem to be anything particularly next gen on the horizon.

Anyone got any thoughts on how soon we can expect to see publishers making exclusive use of new hardware?

Like Mr Goat said, all your saves are backed up to The Cloud. When I got my new console and re-downloaded old games it just syncs with The Cloud for a short time and all my saves were as they were.

Saying that the only game that seem to take a while was Forza 5, I think it took around 10 minutes to 100% sync, at one point I thought it had borked because it seemed to stay on 99% for around 5 minutes but all good in the end.

Anyway, I've now got my pre-order down at GAME for the new Forza console

 

Unfortunately there was/is/still will be developers that are creating games for the "last gen" so can only push their resources so far, and until they're done with "last gen", we won't see the plethora of games being released with did on the 360/PS3.

Think of it like the XOTBR-16 Chaingun with the accelerator mod. It starts firing slowly, then builds up for all out warfare.

E3 comes out in June, lets wait until then. But with Phil now at the helm i'm an excited Xbox One owner. Also he mentioned that State of Decay is huge for them, and i'd expect them to release their own "H1Z1" version for the Xbox.

Just as a side note, Fortnite looks bloody awesome!

Also mabe they will reveal a new gears of war title. As for multi platform games we will have Witcher 3, star wars battlefront, Minecraft Xbox one edition and Batman Arkham knight.

Lots of good looking games on the horizon.

 

I'd love it if they also revealed Fallout 4 or a new Red Dead Redemption. I'd be smitten.

Video game consoles are a very poor investment, just like a lot of other products. You start getting your return the first day you use it, and it will continue as long as you own it and use it.

 

I don't think full use of ALL of the new hardware will happen until they release DirectX 12 which is slated for 2015. But in a more loose sense Titanfall is the first to take advantage of all the system has available currently.

 

its already a return investment to me. the blu-ray for instance over the 10 year life cycle that it has you would probably spend as much or maybe a little less on blu-ray players because companies dont update the software after a certain point. so im getting
a full return on that. for 160/year or less i can get unlimited music and pay online its not bad. but i have been in for about 10 years and been in since

 

Classic,the first two years after a console release are always full of emptyness and expectations....

On Xbox 360,it took 2-3 years before games like Halo 3,Mass Effect,Gears of War,GTA IV,Assassin Creed,....came out.

But so far,at least for me,there are already good titles to play and 2014 isn't over yet,with new games coming soon.

I got more than 500 hours of playing games on Xbox one,so for a €500 console seems my investment has already return.

 

Titanfall in no way takes advantage of anything the Xbox One has available lol. just my opinion. it's rather minimal on features to be honest. it does a good job of a few things but doesn't at all exemplify what other games should be doing.

 

Titanfall is more game play than stressing the hardware, but it does use Xbox One's Cloud Compute, the only game to do so apart from Forza.

 

I want a campaign in Titan fall 2 where I lead a army of my robots in to battle.

 

The purchase of an Xbox One doesn't seem to be an investment that I would be looking for a return on.... after all it's a game console. That being said, here in Canada we have RRSP (retirement savings), where I invest money into mutual funds. Some months
they go up, others they drop. So I guess if someone is looking at the X1 as an investment, look at from an investment stand point and don't expected to get rich quick.... investing takes time, just like building the X1. Start with something, watch it grow.....

Think about taking the $500 for the X1 and invest it in stocks instead..... where would that money be today since the time of purchase?

 

I got a return on my investment in the X Box One...FUN! Lol. For as many hours that I've played/used the X1, my initial cost has already been returned in "entertainment". Whatever comes next gravy.
