When are Microsoft going to fix game downloads for the PC ?

what antivirus are you using, also are you using wifi or lan, is your network set to private not public.

I have windows 11 and download at full speed without issue. several other pc's in the home all running win 10 or win 11 and they all download at full speed too.

Indeed, my friend, it happens a lot lately with the Xbox app for PC, on W11 more than on W10, I myself am using W10 to install games, but every now and then, I face an issue there as well, but less than I faced when using W11. :/

Unfortunately, the app has some issues right now. :/

As I said, you mean well no-doubt, but miss the point entirely:

This is default out-of-the-box behaviour for a clean installation of windows (win11 in this instance). All of the above is useful if something may be wrong with the configuration/setup.

It's downloaded 1.6 GB of 7.4 GB because I went away and had a cup of tea and presumably, for some reason, only installs when idle.

This behaviour out-of-the-box is broken; lots of people complain about it yet nothing is done.. when I click on "install" I expect it to install there-and-then. This is my 3rd recent clean install of Win11 for the record. Nothing ever changes, and nothing ever will until Microsoft recognise and accept that it is broken.

So, let's try this, first, make sure your windows and all its services are up to date:

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

Click Check for Updates;

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

Then try this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then, try to uninstall and install the Xbox app.

If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command.

In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

Then, after you do it, you're going to open the game pass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again

If neither of those procedures works, try to restore your PC's OS via the ISO image tool, using that tool you will be able to maintain your installed games and files.

First, you will download it > Open the ISO Image tool > Open a file inside it called SETUP.exe > Select upgrade > download from the cloud > Keep games and apps.
