    Hi all,

    i just wondered if anyone can confirm if you still get the little star on a game tile when it has automatically updated with instant on with the new Xbox experience?

    it was pretty useful with the old os

    The system update happens with any game.

    I am on the preview program. Is that why?

    Xbox Update when in a game

    normally games will update while the machine is in standby, or before the game itself starts.

    What game/s are you experiencing this with, and are you on the preview programme?

    Games reinstall when there's an update!!

    The game updates are managed and controlled by each game developer. However, it should just install the update and not reinstall the game.

    Someone posted the same issue with Destiny 2 after they canceled the update, they had to reinstall the game.

    Are your games installed to an external hard drive? Maybe its trying to reinstall to the main hard drive on the Xbox?

    You could try a hard reset but I'm not expecting that it would fix the issue.

    Hard reset the Xbox by holding down the power button on the front of the Xbox for 15 seconds. After the 15 seconds let go of the power button then restart the Xbox.

    I have done that plenty of times it doesn't help. They are installed to the internal memory. I don't cancel the updates. The game says it has an update and I push the button to update the game and it starts reinstalling the entire game.

    Yes, the preview programme is a bit less polite than the other updates. It will just kick you from whatever game you are in and apply the update as soon as its ready.

    It's happened to me twice. It shouldn't be very often
