Yes I did beat them all. They were the hardest thing on Insanity but they were just time consuming more than difficult.

Props to you bruh! But really, "time consuming"? You didn't *once* gnash your teeth or want to rage quit? If memory serves, there were four architects... so why did you push on with 'em because you could hardly call that satisfying gameplay? On the other
hand, some folks get their kicks from being humiliated by Dark Souls. It takes all kinds, I guess What's with all the hate for Mass Effect: Andromeda? :p

What's with all the hate for Mass Effect: Andromeda?

Perhaps a big part of the disappointment surrounding so-called 'big' releases these days might be down to player fatigue, or that sense of entitlement that everything should be bigger, badder and brasher than before. Interestingly, the Metacritic for Andromeda
shows that it's nestled (just) inside the favorable zone - 76, but not by much (if the rating dips below 75, then it would merely be classed as average). And that's where Agents of Mayhem - a revisionist take on the Saints Row universe - has also ended up,
    at least on Xbox.

I've played both games obsessively, and I'd certainly agree that both suffered from a sense of being not-quite-there yet, but in the case of Andromeda it's almost universally regarded as a write-off. Shame really, but I do believe that the more you put into
a game the more you'll derive from it - especially if you're already invested in the world or the characters. Ryder may've been a hollow shell to you, but the beauty of these 'big' games is that you're asked to actively engage with them, and if you spend any
quality time in customization (which is a hallmark of BioWare's games), then you can certainly pick up the slack for any creative shortfalls.

Andromeda may have its faults, but whatcha gonna do? Cry about it? Alternatively, you could easily choose *not* to play it, or rate it (as many have done). Just goes to show how spoiled for choice we are in these modern times!

I keep reading if the "architects" and how difficult they are. I'm already dreading them lol. What weapons or tech is best against them?

@brandiesel: Try running away! What's with all the hate for Mass Effect: Andromeda? :p

I'll leave the serious answer for Badger, but given that it's a time-consuming BOSS fight, it kinda irks that you don't even get a checkpoint after you've jumped through hoops to get to the boss's weak point! As I recall, there are tentacles or some such
and you've only got a brief window to break them, after which the boss sends out a wave of minions who can quite easily interfere with your best-laid plans and see you dead again! Thus sending you back to the beginning ... the *only* checkpoint you'll get
until the job is done. Absolutely dire design!

In regard to the original trilogy, I actually like the combat more in the first game.

The 'better' combat in the two sequels seem to come from the dice roll being removed from the gunplay and thus it becoming a twitch shooter. Unfortunately the balance of the combat was shifted squarely in the favour of the gun based classes in ME2 and 3.

Ammo became a power and so a class such as an Adept who used Cryo ammo in the first game was now unable to do so (it wasn't even one you could gain as a bonus ability) and so an ammo type was cut off from certain classes.

Biotics became next to useless in the sequels at the higher difficulty levels, with all enemy types gaining levels of shields, barriers, or armour. The most you could hope for now was a brief stagger or hold while you took them down with your guns. That or
hide behind the plentiful chest high walls in order to spam biotic combos. Though I must admit that Charge, Nova, Shotgun was a pretty fun way to fight.

The dice roll in the gunplay may have annoyed some but the enemies in Mass Effect 1 were also tied to it, they could actually miss. In the sequels unless the enemies were using heavy weapons, they all had supernatural aim and could hit you unerringly as soon
as your head appeared. Which was a bit of a shame really as the effective shield systems of the first game were now seemingly replaced with wet toilet tissue generators they were that weak. That meant that actually leaving the loving embrace of the chest high
wall was something that almost seemed frowned upon.

A small side must be given over to my hatred of your squadmates heads which really looked as if they were imprinted on Shepard's bum in ME2.

That's not to say I hated everything about the combat changes. The sound effects were certainly better, and each gun (even in the same type) felt different to use. But oh the separate melee button was a godsend, a true godsend.

Sliding back to Andromeda. If the cover system had just been something the player had to make a choice to enter, instead of being distance sensitive, then I would have said it was the best of the franchise so far.

Is there a quick way to switch guns? Having to pause the game to bring up the weapon wheel really seems to take you out of the action even though it only take a few seconds.

I'm sure there is a "quick switch" for weapons but can't remember what it is.It has been a while since I played this.

As for The Architects,BluSwirls advice about running away is good advice, especially if you are playing on Insanity on your first playthrough.

You'll be killed to death in seconds.Save them little bad boys for end game once you've got better gear, better abilities & you have done your squad loyalty missions.

You can go back once you've finished the main story & mop up any unfinished side quests if you want.

They're more a test of patients than anything else really.

I like the Dark Souls games so I do like a challenge which is why I did the Architects.

Yes mate. They are just part of a side quest on each planet & completely optional.

If I remember you just get some good crafting stuff out of them but I could be wrong.

  14. I don't know when 75% became an average game. To me a game that gets 75% is a damn good game and 50% is average. I guess that is why I don't trust reviews these days, only 75 to 100 exists.

Personally I'll never understand the dislike for the combat in the first game since it offers you far more options than that of the two sequels. Sure it doesn't look as pretty but I'll take being able to run around a combat zone as an Adept to being stuck behind
a chest high wall looking at a special effect over and over. The same as Dragon Age: Origins vs DAII I guess, I'll take options over flash.

Man I love this game so far. I'm only on Eos. Maybe it's good that I didn't play the last two games?
