What's up with all of the hating on the Xbox One??

There appears to be so many people seriously hating on the Xbox One. It is really sad. It is an EXCELLENT console and was certainly my console of choice this generation. It is so innovative how you can do so much more than playing games on it, however
it is definitely a true gamers console as well. I am not an xbox fanboy, I just love video games too much to have an alliance to just one company, and have since Atari 2600. I have had just about every console from the 2600 on to now. I do plan to get a Playstation
4 sometimes in the future, but when comparing the two before their release, I was like, "make mine the Xbox One!" When I first got my Day One edition Xbox One, I went on Amazon to check out the reviews and was shocked that there were so many 1 star reviews
only to realize a lot of them are fake feedbacks from Sony fanboys to try and downplay the Xbox One. It appears even worse now. When I look at the Playstation 4 reviews there are not nearly as many 1 star ratings and I know Playstation is not that much better
than Xbox One, it is only cheaper because Xbox includes the kinect which in my opinion is well worth the extra $100. People need to grow up and applaud the fact that there is healthy competition which makes it good for all involved. When there is no choice,
(see the ea sports "madden' monopoly), the consumers always suffer. I do not regret my choice at all but I have no interest in downplaying the competition.

It's just the First Adopter Blues. People who haven't been first adopters before or somehow dodged the bullet before are coming out of the woodwork and singing their woes. And I feel for them, I really do, I personally am on my 3rd X1 since launch, which
if nothing else, does attest to the fact that hey have a great program for exchanging them out since they are able to do so as fast as they have.

I have been a first adopter on every system since the PS2, and the worst offenders so far (respectfully) have been PS2 and Xbox 360. In the first year of having a PS2 I exchanged my console 6 times and had maybe 1 month of actual playing time. With the
360 I exchanged it out 8 times, but over the course of 4 years.

People are under the impression that the X1 is just some sort of natural evolution of the 360, and it's not. It's an all new hardware platform, all new hardware, and all new software. So you have to understand that right off the bat, there are going to
be lots of issues. Issues that even the PS4 is having. Both systems are sitting right at about a 6% failure rate right now. It's really all part of the process. There really is no better system. PS4 has a slightly more stable OS but a higher hardware
failure rate, as where X1 has a higher number of OS glitches but a lower failure rate on hardware. Six of one and a half dozen of the other, imo.

Yes, but you probably "needed" the tires. I do not need/want a Kinect (psst... it's a peripheral).

  5. @ galactic geek, maybe not forced but very heavily incentivised by adding a lengthy delay to the button press.

OMG I cannot believe the crybabies on here... wahhh they are forcing me to give them money. wahhh if I buy this it comes with something I don't want/need. Well they aren't forcing anything. The Kinect is not a peripheral it is a part of the system. Just
as an HDMI cable is a part of the system. If you already own a suitable HDMI cable are you going to complain that you had to spend your hard-earned money on the one that comes with it? Most no but I am sure there a faction of complainers out there that would.
Seriously people MS is not going to sell a Kinect-less XBO any time soon, if ever. Period... So wait for a price drop and quit complaining.

  7. Stone, you DO NEED the Kinect for many of the features the Xbox One offers: Gestures, voice commands, more interactive games, game DVR, Skype, broadcasting with Twitch, etc. Using it really is the best way to make the most of the console.

Jambo, are you in the preview update? Because I am and there is virtually no delay with using the voice commands anymore. It goes lightning quick - I'd almost say it's faster than the button press in many cases. For example, when a message pops up, I can
press and hold the guide button to bring up the message, which takes about 3 seconds or so. However, with the new "read message" voice command, I can say it as soon as the notification pops up and it immediately takes me to the message before the notification
has fully popped up (I'd say in about 1.5 seconds). In addition if my hands are tied for whatever reason or I'm not in the same room, I can still check my message.

@GG, sorry I'm not being clear, I'm referring to the voice commands being forced into Ryse just because they couldn't find a better way of using it. But I love the way they use it in Dead Rising with the taunts but more so with shaking the controller, I
want to see more of that, but in Ryse the voice commands serve no purpose other than "just cause", if Ryse is an example of how they plan on using the Kinect to "enhance" the game, then it will never be widely accepted.

All I know is that I hear many ppl complaining about the Kinect and making fun of it due to that.

I would like Kinect if it worked...but as it stands from what I've heard from many different places...it doens't work half the time.

Thats why I don't want Kinect. If it was not a $100 camera with a mic and did more interesting stuff and worked most of the time...I would have bought a X1 as my first "next-gen" console.

  10. That's debatable really tho isn't it, take the ryse example they had to handicap the old control scheme( controller) to make the new one (kinnect) usefull, the same could be said for the dash and other features, they could streamline the dash for controller
use easily if they chose to.

  11. Zero, the idea in those games is that the voice commands are optional, even in Ryse. Use them or don't; it's up to you. How the Kinect is used in a game is purely up to the developers. This means that just like with the games themselves, you're going to
have good examples and bad examples. At least they're all trying different variations on the same thing as well as entirely new things - they're figuring out what works and what doesn't. In the end, that can only benefit us.

Who is hating the xbox one? Maybe I missed the posts but I havent read a single thread that said hate and xbox one in them exept the OP of this forum. There are people talking about the kinect but the kinect is not xbox one its a optional piece of hardware
to enhance the core unit if you want to use it.

Dare I say Kinect enhances the One greatly. Outside of gaming, my controller is optional.
