What's the point in Gold?

It's about quality but you are forgetting the most important thing

You vote with your dollars with the 3rd party devs not with ms

It has nothing to do with gold

You can have bad games and still not pay for gold you just won't have online

Servers do cost money to run

And that dollar deal is only one time per account

And since unlike steam you can't move your gamesaves or purchases it's silly to create 50 account iustnfor 1 dollar 1month deal when you can do 3 years for 1 dollar

If you didn't stack your gold for the 1 dollar deal you ain't doing it right

Online charges won't go away

It.costs.billions to.run servers as sony and Nintendo both found out

Did you know sony loves the online charges so much it's made them profitable sooner then expected with ps5 sane with xbox

Since your progress doesn't transfer between accounts

Isting 3rd parties or pc as an excuse isn't going to cut it

3rd parties are ruled by their thr publisher not consoles

As. Proven with recent acquisitions ms nor sony can say anything till the deal is approved and final

Even when both had to promise not to interfere with the exception of actision with their governance crisis butnthis does not affect game developenent

And yes consoles can't take total control unlike Apple learned with app store

I've never heard of people cancelling/not subscribing to Gold due to 3rd parties. Only consumers unwilling to continue purchasing games developed by said 3rd parties that have upset consumers with previous bad practices. 3rd party developers have nothing to do with Gold.

Sure, there's people out there that take advantage of the $1 gamepass deal but I suspect Microsoft are making more then enough money from gamepass to continue offering that.

Yes, that applies to others aswell, But Xbox has Gamepass, Ads and they get a alot more cut into the games being bought digitally.

But this isn't about "Why are we simply paying for gold"

It's about "Why are we paying for gold when the online Experience from these 3rd party developers is Manipulative broken garbage"

Xbox has ads in their home that covers the cost of a Home screen.

They don't pay for your online services - you pay for it when you purchase the game.

Xbox doesn't get exclusive deals.

Why would I need to work for 1000s of hours without pay when I can run

An ad 24/7 for free pay?

If Sony was in the red as you claimed, then they would have closed down the PS3 because they couldn't

Consoles are sold at a loss with games and online fees subsidizing and covering the true cost of a console

For example the series x is 1500 dollars worth of computer hardware for the price of 599

And it costs money to run online services and if you are quoting steam

You forget you are paying the true cost of your pc with cost of.ownership everything from.maintenance and upkeep of your hardware like drivers upgrades erc and the total cost of your computer which steam does not cover

Did you know when consoles.offered free online play they LOST MONEY

8 billion with ps3 which included the 200million lost during the 3 month outage of psn and the free games payout every ps3 was sold at a 400 dollar loss also with paid subscriptions optional didn't cover the huge losses

Which is why sony charged during the ps4 era and made profit

Running online cost money
