    There was no mention of any maximum capacity of external hard drives, only a minimum capacity (256Gb). Where did you get that information?

    What´s the maximum capacity of external 2,5" harddrive for XBOX ONE?

    The physical size of the drive (2.5"/3.5") does not technically matter.

    Documentation online is unclear, but various sources elsewhere state that the
    highest supported capacity is 8TB     per hard drive. You can connect up to two external USB hard drives.

    This theoretically gives the highest possible storage capacity of 18TB on the Xbox One. (8TB external + 8TB external + 2TB internal).

    Hi!I can assist, I myself have a 3tb My Book external hard drive and I would suggest my book because it's the best and there's no problems with it and the product has great reviews, I know people that have a 10tb external to their xbox so it's endless to
    however much memory you want for your console

    If you wipe it clean of all your games etc, it should still work on another Xbox One as it`s already been formatted. If it did need doing, they would get an on screen message telling them so and a choice of what the HDD will be used to save.

    And you should be able to use all 8TB of your new HDD. I think the maximum total capacity of external memory you can have is 16TB with multiple external HDDs connected, with a maximum of 8TB per HDD.

    Just to add a little more info. The Xbox One only supports external USB 3.0 hard drives with a minimum capacity of 128gb (was 256gb), and a maximum capacity of 16tb. You can also use up to 3 external drives connected to the Xbox One at any one time.
