    What’s the difference between a regular XBox gift card and one that says XBox Live?


    I know the majority of you will think this is a stupid question but I’m just a mom not a gamer. Anyways... My son is wanting V-Bucks for Fortnite for Christmas and asked or a XBox gift card. When I went to the store to purchase one there was 3 different
    kinds...regular XBox, XBox Live, and XBox Live Gold. Which one do I need to buy for V-Bucks?

    No dumb Qs! Xbox Live is the service you need to play online. So buy one that says a dollar amount on it. NOT Xbox Live. They come in $10, $25, $50 etc. Sometimes a pack of 3 $10 cards as well. Hope this helps!

    The xbox gift card is used to put credit on your Microsoft account to purchase items on the store. The xbox live card is used to buy the live service that allows you to play onlline games.

    this image    . Gift cards with a monetary value printed on them (be it for the Microsoft Store like the violet one on the left, or the green Xbox one on the right) are currency gift cards, that your kid can redeem to buy stuff like V-Bucks.

    The Xbox Live Gold cards book Xbox Live Gold on his account, which allows him to play online multiplayer.

    "Xbox Live Gold" card is for buying the subscription for Xbox Live Gold, which your son will already have as he's able to play Fortnite online.

    Xbox and Xbox Live cards should be same, but to be sure just buy the Xbox Gift card. That will let him buy the V-bucks.
