What's the deal with your xbox live ban system?

I mean, say someone griefs someone in a game, and then the person who was griefed then decides to ask said griefer why they did it in xbox live chat. Said griefer (We'll call them 1) then replies with a mocking silly face emoji and then a meme, which is
clearly not the right respone to a question. The griefee (We'll call them 2) then replies with a message saying "It's a bit of a *insert standard australian explitive here* move though". 1 then replies with "IK but it's fun". Yes 2 used a swear, but 1 instigated
said conversation and provoked 2.

On a side note. If the rating system worked, then I wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.

P.S. This isn't a jab at anyone in particular, I'm just curious as to how to banning and reporting system evaluates that the person who instigated the griefing and conversation was in the right whereas the person who used a swear was in the wrong. I'm not
saying using a swear shouldn't be a bannable offense, that's on me. But surely we're both at fault here.

Enforcement only looks at, and acts on, the single reported message. They don't look at who instigated what.

This is why we repeatedly advise to report and block, never respond.

It doesn't matter how a situation starts. If you respond in a way that violates the code of conduct, which swearing is, you can be punished. In situations like that, it's best to just report the other person and block communication with them.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Unfortunately, you will not be able to reach the enforcement team here on the forums. I recommend visiting our
Enforcement websitefor all info regarding Bans/Suspensions.

If you were suspended for longer than a day you can also
submit a case reviewfrom the same website.This is how
you communicate with the enforcement team and it's the only way.

Profanity is not a ban reason on Xbox Live. They most likely reported you for something else.

Also, we don't deal with enforcment on her, you will need to go to
Xbox Enforcement to deal with your ban.

Your reputation will not get you banned or suspended. It just shows that your have low reputation in the Xbox Live Community. Really not that big of a deal IMO.
