I kind of want to join in on the series i'm wondering why its loved so much.

Also if i do decide should i just wait for the master chief collection? Though i don't think reach is included? or ODST? is ODST neccessary should i just buy reach? as it is a prequel?

    :)

    What about Halo?

To be serious, how about Titanfall. Highlight of the briefing.

if halo ODST, Reach anniversary, and halo 4 were good I would have been excited, but after halo 4 I have no faith in 343, or the halo franchise. the only good halo games this gen were halo 3 (which was no where near as good as halo 1 or 2 but still good) and
halo wars (which was an RTS, a good RTS at that on console but not something the majority of halo fans would care about)

  5. Pretty good story, multi-player can be addicting (for different reasons for different folks, I personally love the vehicles and the shields that keep it from being a twitch reaction type affair). You can follow the storyline with just the games in the Master
Chief Collection. But getting Reach as a test might be a good idea since it is a lot cheaper than $60 these days.

  6. Yeah you should buy reach as it is a prequel to Halo combat evolved.

    Halo reach

    Halo ce

    Halo 2

    Halo 3 odst

    Halo 3

    Halo 4

The original Halo came out with some of the best graphics and gameplay at the time and many argue propelled the Xbox into the market as a legitimate brand. Halo helped enforce and popularize the twin-stick look/move controller scheme for many that hadn't
used it before. It had great level design, characters you cared about, a good story. A variety of intelligent enemy AI, some ducked/dodged attacked/countered, some ran in fear, some charged mindlessly, some factions attacked each other in addition to you.
Good variety of weapons. Great multiplayer extended the single-player experience for months or even a year (for myself and my buddies). It was one of the greatest games ever made.

That being said, it's hard to relive someone else's nostalgia, so if you picked up the original and played it in it's original non-HD, non-widescreen format, you'd probably wince at the old graphics...

With Halo2, XboxLive became a thing, and couch co-op/multiplayer began to creep worldwide.

With the 360/Halo3, multiplayer became very seriously proliferated...much easier to pickup and get into. Now it's old hat...

During the 360's reign, every other FPS to emerge tried to be a "Halo-killer"...everything was compared to Halo. Eventually Halo sort of burned itself out a little. Serious graphical challenges emerged from Frostbyte, Unreal, and CryEngine games...

Call of Duty eventually emerged as the victorious, ubiquitous and highest selling FPS, but it's certainly not really "better" than Halo. It's on every platform kind of the Starbucks of FPS's...Everyone knows and cares about Master Chief and Cortana. They
hope to someday see his face and hope Cortana becomes a real girl so they can have space babies together...Do you remember the dumb plot or characters of any modern COD game? Nope. One of 'em was called "Soap" and is a generic jarhead meathead loser....All
    I can remember...

Halo is still good in the hands of 343 instead of Bungie. With Halo 4, the graphics are good, the gameplay is classic and it always makes the fans get a warm fuzzy seeing Chief and Cortana bust *** over the bad guys...but part of story is getting obtuse.
Instead of the war of humanity vs religious fanatics (Covenant) with a side dish of zombie-virus horror plot (Flood), it's getting bogged down in this goofy "humans were created by some vastly superior (yet idiotic) alien race who for whatever dumb reason,
want to kill us all now" like Mass Effect, like Prometheus, like whatever (it's a dumb sci-fi trope)...That premise never makes any good sense on it's surface in any entertainment product.

Frankly I hope they drop it to the greatest extent possible for Halo5. It's silly and has little to do with the good ole fashioned space marine vs alien bad guys stuff...There's plenty of good stuff to mine with the Human vs Covenant vs Flood angles. The
addition of this forerunner evolution crap just makes it seem sillier and sillier...And I guess they've forgotten about the Flood altogether...

  9. the halo series has a good story that you can follow along with your friends in 4 player co-op, you can make your own maps in forge mode on halo 3, reach, and 4. multiplayer has a good amount of gametypes for whatever you like

  11. Desynk, you should buy the MCC if you're considering getting into the Halo series. As for ODST and Reach, they are great additions to the overall storyline, but are non-essential to the core story of Halo that follows the MC. Whats so good about the Halo series? ;)

  12. I don't know what's so good about the Halo series as I've only played a few hours of Halo: Reach and Halo: 3, but like you I also want to play all the Halo games because a lot of my friends are big Halo nuts and they have been
telling me Halo has a good campaign.

Reach is my favourite and I think a big part of that is the lack of Master Chief.

I like how you can have your own Noble Six, to a certain extent.

Huge Halo fan here, I would just get the Master Chief Collection.

Halo 3: ODST was fun with a group of people and the campaign was okay, but overall I found it to be an unnecessary addition to the series. You can definitely skip it.

Halo: Reach is my least favorite of the Halo series, but the story was good. It's a prequel to the rest of the series so playing it before the Master Chief Collection might help things make more sense story wise, but you don't have to play it to understand
Master Chief's story. It's not a MUST HAVE, but pick it up if you really want a bit more insight into the story.

Personally, I think you'll be fine with the Master Chief Collection. Halo: CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3 are some of my favorite FPS games of all time and Master Chief is just simply awesome. Halo 4 was a great addition to the series and I have faith that 343 Industries
is on the right track, the series is in good hands. I'm really excited for Halo 5: Guardians!!

  15. I would get odst I really liked the campaign it had a lot darker tone than the others, and I like seeing what happened to the city between h2 and h3. But it's not necessary.
