I've been quite vocal on the forums about what I consider the high price of XBox Ones games.

I think games should have a sort of tiried system:

AAA Games with Multiplayer Maps (at least 10) on the Original Disc = £50 to £60 Examples (Titanfall, Halo, BF4 and GTA5, COD Ghosts)

Same as above but Digital Download = £40 - £45

AA Games with Multiplayer Maps (at least 10) on the Original Disc = £35 to £45 Examples (Deadrising, Ryse, Tomb Raider, NFS, FIFA)

AA Games without multiplayer £24-£35 (Thief, Lego ) 20% less for Digital Downloads

Arcade and XBLA games £5-£15 or better Free, Super Time Force, Max and Curse

    What does everyone else think?

    :)

    Hardware discussion

What kind of hardware do you guys hope the 720 will have? Is it a major concern for you or would you rather see other features and lower price? The 360 had pretty good hardware for a fair price when it launched and it is quite impressive that new games still look amazing on such an old machine. Personally I hope the 720 goes for something similar, but id rather have to pay a little bit more money than to get disappointed that the console only lasts a few years.

    free live gold, wish thinking.

Fair enough, but if you do want to discuss, or see what others say, there are existing threads about this in the wishlist/feedback forums.

What about titles like Skyrim or Fallout , titles that have no MP but provide hundreds of hours of entertainment and provide much better value for money than any of the AAA titles you listed above, should they be more expensive or in the cheaper bracket?
Whilst I see where you are coming from I think there are two many variables for a tiered system of pricing. I do agree digital should be substantially cheaper though.

I pre-ordered GTA 5 for £35 and Halo 4 for ~£30 so I don't know how you managed to dump them in the £50-£60. I won't pay more than £40 for console games.

    Hmmm! Good post.

I was a bit miffed with Titan Fall not having anything in the way of a single player campaign as I am only a recent participant in MP and have found it particularly hard to get into (some of you are soooo good!) My son is too embarrassed to watch me (makes
a change to see him slap his forehead at me!).

I think elements such as hours of play / content and re-playability need to come into the equation somehow. Not sure I agree with your high ceiling of £60, I begin to sweat at the though of paying £50 for a game!

£50-60 is too much for a standard game. And as Genchy said, I don't believe multiplayer is worth more than single player. Quite the opposite in fact. Titanfalls total lack of story is just lazy.

I wouldn't pay for £45 for a game, its very rare I pay over £40 (unless I am also paying for the DLC)

I would happily £40, for TF and COD4, I only play the MP on both, so the SP means nothing to me.

I would prefer games to split, so you pay £10-20 for the core, then £10ish for each section SP, MP, MG (mini games like COD zombies), then also split the DLC so I don't have to buy stuff that isn't relevent for me, eg COD ghost MP maps are pointless to me
    since I only play extinction.

I would also happily play £40 for skyrim, I put less time into skyrim than COD4, but both offer value for money IMO.

However I won't play £35 for PVZ GW, becuase I don't think it offers the same, there is no demo to prove me right or wrong, but I am sure it will be on GwG soon enough.

But each game offers different things to different people, so its never going to be an easy solution.

I try not to pay more than £40 too which I think is a fair price for most games. I don't think digital games should cost more than £30 because there are no distribution costs and no way trading it in. Some games however people get £100's worth of gameplay
out of i.e CoD, FIFA and Skyrim. But I think as gamers we do well with the cost of games in regards to the rate of inflation - I paid £60 each for Street Fighter II Turbo and Mortal Kombat on the SNES over 20 years ago! I think if your mortgage was £60 p/w
    (£240 p/m) 20 years ago it'd be a minimum of £200 p/w or £800 p/m now....sort of puts the price of our hobby I to perspective!

It all depends on the game. I would say between £30 & £40 would be ideal with budget games around £20 - £30.

It would depend on the game, but even if there were a tiered pricing structure based on certain criteria, I would not want to see a premium being placed on games for having a multiplayer experience. It would encourage this weird behaviour of tacking multiplayer
onto games which really don't benefit from it, just to say that the game has an online aspect.

Imagine games like Hitman or Thief tacking on team deathmatch, or Watch Dogs' interconnectedness, just so that the publishers could charge more according to some predetermined pricing structure.

However, it would be nice to see the premium for digital games be eliminated - it's being charged for what surely is a cheaper delivery method for a game.

They say AAA Games are as big as Hollywood Blockbusters.

So we're looking at £7.00 for a cinema ticket and £10.00 for a new release DVD.

That makes the justifiable price for a Video Game to be £17.00.

Publishers are rubbing their hands with glee while reading this thread and laughing all the way to the bank.

@ Azrael: I get your point, but imagine taking your family (2 adults and 2 kids) to see the latest cinema blockbuster; the cost soon adds up. Plus you can't resell the ticket!

If the game is particularly appealing (and a demo proved it to me) I'm comfortable to spend around £40. If it's borderline, then I'll just wait till the price drops to around the £20 mark.
