What Xbox One Game Slapped You In The Face This Year?

Battlefield 4 and The Evil Within.

BF4 was and still is broken, and The Evil Within was still a decent Horror game it just didn't live up to what I hoped it would be.

 

BF4 may not be perfect by any stretch, but it's come a long way from broken, Beats...

 

i actually agree with GG on something - although BF4 WAS a mess, it was and still is a fantastic shooter

 

I bought the "Full Bells & Whistles" version of Battlefield 4. With Premium and all the DLC etc...

While I did benefit from the Premium and while I did play the DLC I would have been no worse off or less entertained if I had not.

This is not the game slapping me in the face.

This is not the Publisher slapping me in the face.

This was me slapping myself firmly in the face.

 

Borderlands The Pre-Sequel... but I guess that's not an xbone game (yet)

I guess it would be Destiny. I got my moneys worth out of it, but it definitely wasn't what I was hoping for.

 

The Evil Within. I bought it when it was half price in an Xbox Live sale and just didn't like it. It reviewed well and a lot of people seem to love it, but it turned out to be not my cuppa tea.

 

For me, it's Watch Dogs. Only became interested a couple of weeks before release due to watching a couple of trailers followed by buying it Day 1. I played it for a week straight then never touched it again.

 

I won't let The Evil Within slap me in the face. I'm entering a more casual phase of gaming. Wait, if that's true, why am I playing DA Inquisition? It slapped me in the face like three times last night with it's glitchy health potion wheel of misfortune.

 

For me Watchdogs and the The Lord of the fallen

 

I honestly feel most games in 2014 have been pretty underwhelming in some way or another. I've found myself bored of a lot of them fairly quickly, especially those that are starting to lean toward being open world which I feel is becoming an overdone formula.
I haven't really played a game yet that rocked my world like some of the games on the Xbox 360 like Gears of War, Perfect Dark Zero, or Rainbow 6 Vegas did. I did enjoy Diablo 3, Titanfall and Killer Instinct though Titanfall and Killer Instinct are both products
that have taken some time to mature.

Going to play Alien: Isolation later, hopefully that will keep my attention.

I'll admit the multiplayer works decently now.

Campaign is still completely broken though, I know most people ignore Battlefield's single player anyway.

But would nice if I could actually play it without my progress erasing.

 

Evil Within, mainly due to it having the worst FOV in the history of gaming and those stupid black borders. There may well be a decent game in there but those 2 things killed it for me.

Lords of the Fallen, besides it being an unpolished, buggy mess it's quite possibly the dullest thing I've ever played.

 

Diablo III was great but soooo short. I bought Torchlight 2 through steam for like $3 last Christmas and it took me three times longer to get through it. Really not a lot of difference in them either.

 

@ BizarroMantis, don't you look at all games as Casual? I do. I thought everyone did to be honest. It's as harmless and as laid back as reading a book.

 

A book has never made me say "oh for <insert expletive> sake" and sling a controller at a wall.

I've played quite a few games that have had that effect on me.
