What Xbox One Game Slapped You In The Face This Year?

Not really. I don't have a lot of money to buy every game that comes out, so I'm very careful with what games I buy. I know what I like and don't like, so the games I get really excited about I know what to expect and games I'm not so sure about I will wait
until they are cheaper.

Slapped in the face

Asked to pay a discontinued half price special for an game addon, was told no. So I paid the current price, a couple days later? The price went to 50% again, so I asked for said credit, a code, the second addon which was priced same. A billion dollar company
said NO! Pay the 9.99 for if. I could've been told to wait a few days but nooooo, they got the 19.99 then marked it down! Cheaters. Not another dime from me !

Beside this all the ToS which you agreed also says,

If an item get a discount later on. you wouldn't get a refund.

Found it out myself while buying gta.

2 days later it was on a 50% sale.

But this is something u can avoid easy.

Just wait whit buying your items until they go on a big discount.

Or pay the full 100%.

 

I'm the same way... I only buy about one $60 game a year because that's really all I'll likely be excited enough to buy.

 

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare straight up Rick James slap.

 

I'll say Titanfall. I loved it....while it lasted. But there was little to no reason to re-play it. Co-op Campaign? Nope. Offline versus with friends against bots (Until recently, nope.) A handful of modes, a laughably small selection of perks and weapons...
it's.... so small! I bought the art book, and I was blown away by all the lore, the wildlife, the back-drops, the immense scale of the battles over-head... and what did we get? A fully functioning FPS with excellent mechanics for sure, but it's also limited
in it's refusal to try and be something more. Look at those massive monsters in the background! Aren't they amazing? Would you like to interact with them? Tough! The whole game is look but don't touch, and it makes me sad.

 

Well, Watchdogs got my left cheek, Titan Fall came around and got my right cheek, then Wolfenstien came up and kicked me right in the ba!!$

 

Killer Instinct...don't like how they set the game up...just release a *** AAA 59.99$ release none of this season bullcrap....on the flip side Sunset overdrive was good enough to warrant me buying an Xbox One at all as i was really unconvinced at first.

 

Not to rap on Liquid's opinion, but I personally love how they handled KI - it gives you choice in which characters you want, how much you're willing to spend, and adds more over time to keep you interested and playing...

 

"Killer Instinct" was torn apart and sold in seperate pieces in the hopes of getting you to spend more than you would on the full game.

Defending it as "I want to thank the Publisher for giving me choice" makes you look at best, like someone who's trying to start an argument for the sake of it and at worst, like someone who's not smart enough to spot a thinly veiled attempt to be taken advantage
of.

This didn't make it onto my Face Slap list because with KI it's not the Game that slapped me in the face. It's Microsoft.

This is a really great game that could have been King of the Next Gen fighters instead of the failed social experiment to gank people for their cash that it turned out to be.

An App Store Marketplace Model such as this has no place on a £400.00+ console.

Shame on you Microsoft.

 

Failed expirement? Looks like KI is doing just fine to me, Azrael - but to each their own.

I find that most fighting game players find a character they like and really only play that character, despite a roster of 20+ characters in many fighting games. With the setup that KI provides, and that no other fighting game does, you can freely play the
game over the course of a few days or weeks trying out/fighting against different characters to see which you like and which ones you might purchase. Buying 2 characters for $10 is far cheaper than buying a full game for $60.

Sure, you might be right that buying everything for KI is more expensive (Season 1 & 2 Ultra Editions can cost you $60-$80 together, depending on sales), but look at what you get for it: 18+ fighters with their own stages, customization options, achievements
(which are also available in the free version), and a story mode (with 3 different endings per character), as well as a dojo and a practice mode that teaches you about fighting games in general, a survival mode to test your metal, online multiplayer with ranked,
unranked and lobby modes as well as local versus play, and the classic versions of both KI 1 and 2 (that come with their own set of achievements) - and there's still more on the way (revamped story mode, dojo mode for each character, etc)! That, IMO, is worth
it.

If you don't want all of that, you can still get the combo editions of both seasons for only $20 each (sans some accessories and the classic versions of KI1 and KI2 from the ultra editions), which is STILL cheaper than your average $60 game - it IS still
a great deal!

If anything, I think MS did a great job with this model and I hope to see more of it! Granted it may not work for every game, but for fighting games, it does...

 

I actually agree with Azrael's statements on "Killer Instinct".

 

I do not like games that are sold in small amounts however I think it worked well for KI3 and it could work for other fighting games. I spent €10.97 total for the 3 characters that I wanted. I had hours and hours of fun and I only spent €10.97. I do not
see how that is a bad deal. Besides, if I wanted to pay for it all outright, I could have.

I do not feel ripped off at all. I only wanted to use Thunder, Saberwulf (on sale for 99p) and Spinal.

I didn't have to spend more for characters that I would have never used.

 

Titanfall was terrible. Destiny's plot was short and terrible and the game got old very quickly for me.

 

Call of duty AW. Probably the worst in the franchise so far. I wasn't planning to get it. Then I did and I was slapping myself for it. I actually liked unity a lot. Got farcry 4 free out of it too.
