What will happen to Indie games on offline mode when 360 is discontinued from Xbox LIVE?

Whenever I'm not connected to Xbox LIVE I can never play the full version of the Indie games (or any at all) that I bought and neither see the games' covers' which is a bit annoying because it should somehow stay archived for when the console remains offline.

-

I do hope that Microsoft releases a Firmware Update to keep the covers for when the console's offline and authority to play Indie games because unless you're online you can't play them.

:)

Not only indie games but Games On Demand too

I bought an Xbox LIVE Indie Game and regretted, but thankfully, it only cost me 80 MSP.

-

When Xbox LIVE on Xbox 360 is discontinued, you know what to do to continue using what you've bought.

What is going on Xbox Live Indie Games on Xbox 360 & Why?

When I checked the Indie Games on Xbox Live on my Xbox 360 all I see is 3 Indie Games and they are Solaroids: Prologue, Yet Another Zombie Defense 2, and Electric Racing Car no other Indie games such like Minecraft, Minecraft: Story Mode, or other Arcade
Games. What is going on?

Regardless of license status indie games always require a connection to LIVE. This is because they are unrated by any official body and require the connection in order for Microsoft to be able to disable it should something 'iffy' be found about them.

-

So when LIVE for the 360 is shutdown you will lose access to any indie games that you have bought. Because of the rating issue I doubt Microsoft will provide any sort of official workaround.
That's not the point though is it? If you have bought a game then you should be able to play it when you want even if it is so many year's down the line !

It should be up to Microsoft to either release something so you can continue to play the game's or offer some sort of compensation package to make up for the loss of not being able to play the game's anymore.

I I agree that you should be able to play them even after the 360 is taken off Live. However, I'm fairly sure that there will be something written in to the T&Cs regarding this that essentially say you agreed to it. If this isn't the case then you may have
a court case on your hands, don't expect to win, but the case is there.

-

Anyway, rest assured that it won't be disconnected for a while. The Original Xbox didn't have it's Live support taken away all that long ago and by that time Microsoft had assessed the situation and there were only very very few people playing Halo 2 on
an unregular basis.

I go back and forth between consoles so I like to play on whichever I have, that said, the games I paid for being unable without internet access is just, lack of better word, unfair.
I know if dlc or games are taken off the live servers and you cannot redownload them you can get your money back, so i assume it will be the same for indie games that require a connection.

11. I too have been putting A LOT of thought into this lately. Once the 360 servers go down

all indie and DLC content goes down with it. Not only is that unfair, but it's also a HUGE redflag

when buying games. While i completely understand the desire for the companies to sell their

new products, i really don't see updating the firmware to allow you to keep the DLC content

at least, as a big hamper to this goal. I have both xbox and ps2 for example, that i still play.

They didn't keep me from buying the 360 or ps3 (or wii for that matter). While indie games

are as they are because of the rating system, that doesn't get microsoft off the hook for DLC

paid for content. Without the ability to play the content offline we are basically renting the

additions to our games, with a half life of maybe 3 more years at the maxium. Maybe i'm wrong

about this, but i don't think STEAM has the same limitations?

unfortunately with all digital games, you purchase the licence to play them and don't actually own the game, and all companies with digital content have the right (which you agreed to when purchasing and downloading) to make them unavailable with short notice
and there is no comeback on this, it stated in every game or app digitally bought on any platform that your licenced to use that game or app for as long as it is available.
