What version of 360 do I have?

Okay, super stupid question, I know. Basically just wanna know what kind of Xbox 360 I have. It was given to me for free. I believe it's the arcade version but I want to be 100% sure. It's the white older one, has no HDMI input in the back, and no storage
device on the side. I tried to download the update and connect to the internet but it said I must have a wireless adapter. So I put the ethernet directly into the back and when I tried to download the system update it said that there was no storage device
so I had to cancel. Any information on this ancient Xbox 360 would really help. Does it have any internal memory at all, any that I could save a couple games with? Thanks so much guys.

we have the last edition 360 E w/ the 250 Gb hard drive and halo 4 bundle w/ Tomb Raider.

 

Sure sounds like an Arcade model, but it could be an older pro model. One way to tell is the DVD tray is white for Arcade models and it is Silver for pro models. The newer arcade models started shipping with 512 MB of internal memory before they were discontinued
as I remember.

At this point you will have to get a hard drive for the 360 if you want to download the latest update.

 

Yes, the DVD tray is silver. So this would be an Xbox 360 pro model, or Xbox 360 arcade pro? If there's even a difference. I just want to make sure I purchase the correct hard drive for this thing.

Yes, it's an original 360 pro. The only difference between it and the arcade model (besides the DVD tray being a different color) is that it came with a 20G hard drive.

With the recent updates to the 360, you can use any external hard drive up to 2TB, and you can connect up to two of them.

Your console model is irrelevant--All phat 360s accept the same internal HDDs. That being said, don't buy a counterfeit HDD, because it may not support backwards compatibility, and may have file system stability issues (as in, you turn your console on one
day, and your HDD is wiped.) Since Microsoft no longer services or sells phat consoles, your best bet is to get an external HDD--up to 2 TB as mentioned in the post above.
