    What styles and archetypes would you make the rest of the old cast members?


    As with pretty much all threads here, there was one of these on the DH forums, now lost forever. Worth starting again though.

    Question is – what archetypes/styles do you see the remaining cast members having?

    To date we have (and you might disagree with my categorisations; that’s up for discussion too) –



    - Jago – Balanced

    - Wulf – Grounded rushdown

    - Glacius – Zoner

    - Thunder – Heavy rushdown/grappler

    - Sadira – Aerial Rushdown

    - Orchid – More balanced rushdown (mixture of ground and air options)

    - Spinal – Technical meter management/Balanced

    - Fulgore – Technical meter management/Balanced

    - TJ Combo – Heavy rushdown (with hint of grappler)



    Here’s my take on the remaining cast and why –

    - Cinder - Zoner

    - His character design and powers make him the only candidate who can do this style without contrivance. I can imagine him being about all manner of fast and slow projectiles and ‘Traps’ with his doubling off hits by an instant teleport bringing him
    in. I know everyone will say “but Cinder was rushdown!”, yeah, they all were. At the end of the day at least one more true zoner is needed this season, and it would just be odd to contrive a zoning mechanic for one of the others when Cinder has pyrokinect
    powers that put it on a plate.

    - Riptor – Zoned rushdown

    - I realise there is a lot of rushdown going on already, but Riptor’s character design really doesn’t make her suitable for any other style. She needs to be feral and intimidating. Due to her hops and long tail, I could see her being one of those character
    who needed to be mid-distance from the opponent to be effective, but whose style was still about piling on pressure with hand to hand (or claw to hand, tail to hand) attacks, making them a mixture of zoner and rushdown.

    - Kim Wu – Defensive/counter attacking

    - As I mentioned in another thread, it would be good to give a character openers with painfully slow start up from open play, but that could be launched with zero start up if cancelled from a SF3TS style parry character trait. I think Kim is the perfect
    candidate for this. Add in a push-block and some counter moves and you’d have a great template for a defensive counter attacking character. As Kim is basically a quite small human girl, it makes sense for her to occupy this archetype.

    - Maya – Light grappler

    - I would like to see a character that was much more based around grappling with openers, linkers and a range of command grabs that set up different situations from open play (a grab that set up a juggle, a grab that set up a wallsplat etc). As all
    these moves would have to be fairly low damage so as not to make the character overpowered, Maya seems like a sensible option for it.

    - Tusk – Stance style

    - It was @JEFFRON27 who suggested that Tusk would be a good candidate for this style, and I agree. Like all the best stance style characters, he would be pretty underpowered in any one stance, but would be overpowered if they had access to all their
    moves and tools at once, the challenge being finding the space and creating the opportunities to change stance safely. Instinct would write itself – you get all those moves and tools at the same time for the duration of instinct.

    - Gargos - Aerial heavy rushdown/grappler

    - What Thunder is to Sabrewulf on the ground, Gargos would be to Sadira in the air

    - Eyedol - Tank

    - Slow, easy to break, but insanely strong, every game has one of these guys.



    It goes without saying that you’ll all disagree! So put up your ideas for the benefit of the IG/MS to think about.

    Iron Galaxy Playing It Safe?

    His a boxer.....lol what did you guys want them to make him look like? i agree that he could look a little better but what exactly where you all expecting? and thats the thing about tj in the first 2 games he was always the normal guy compared to the rest
    of the cast, and its still early they can still change some things

    Hah... funny you say we disagree What styles and archetypes would you make the rest of the old cast members? :)

    I actually COMPLETELY agree, except for I think after thinking a little about it I would switch the Riptor and Cinder ones (as I also just wrote in our other conversation going on elsewhere ;-) )

    Amazing list though, love all of it ;-)

    Depends on what you want to do. Want to swing better weapons with him or keep mainly to spell casting? It usually depends on your play style.
