What speaker options do I have?

Xbox one x does have an optical port on the back of the console. The controller that it comes with has a 3.5 mm so you can hook a pair of good headsets to them.

in my opinion, a good headset that uses the optical port are astro a50, and a good basic stereo headset to plug into the controller is hyperx cloud alpha. Of course there are alot of options out there.

Xbox One X does have an optical out port for surround systems, yes. As to adapting it, that's probably left to a board that specializes in audio setups, but if someone here knows how, hopefully they'll share it!

Hello, I also use pc monitor on xbox, I use an adapter to separate the audio that comes from xbox, in my case my monitor is VGA, which converts the audio to p2, checks if something in the market to use monitor input

Do you have options to hook up the 360 to the receiver like Video 1 or 2? This might help the situation if you do.
Also, on my receiver I have the option to set what kind of speakers are connected to it. I have the options of large or small speakers. In that same menu, there is an option for turning the sub-woofer on or off. I would mess around
with that stuff to see if you can figure out some settings that keep the audio going to the sub all the time.
