What part of my Name (Rene) is not allowed ?!?

Hello, when i try to setup real name sharing for my xbox one account i am first being asked for my first name (which is Rene). I then get told that my name contains a word that is not allowed. What part of my really short first name Rene is supposed to be
problematic?!? I don't get it. It's a very common name in france and in germany (i'm german). Is there anything i don't know about my name or is microsofts namecheck broken?

Yes, that's the definition of "Fab". "Fabian" is a normal name (also) in the Netherlands.

Well, as I always respond to this question: you cannot use it. As you have already learned, something about that name is considered to be a violation of the TOU. You cannot get around it...get another name.

I personally can't think of a reason why it shouldn't be allowed, it's a common name in my country (NL) too.

Thank you for your answer and the link. The strange thing is that i can use my Name for "Display Name", but when i try to add it at "real name sharing", it doen't work. It also seems that i can only do that on the console and not on the website the link
is pointing to, so i cannot try it there.

 

Strange, I can edit my name via the Edit option. Can you try a different browser just to be sure. Also try adding your last name in the box, to see if that makes any difference

 

Um, sorry but this is a missunderstanding I am talking about the "real name sharing" that you can activate for friends. When i try to activate this i have to tell it my real name again. It does not get it from the basic info. I can only do that when i'm
on the console. I can NOT do that on the website. There is no option for it or i haven't found it. I CAN change my name on the website under "basic info". That works.

 

As far as I know it fetches de information from that section.

Does the console match the region that is set on the account? If not then that may do something, but I'm guessing now.

I'm afraid that I'm running out of options to try. You may have to contact Xbox Support to see if they have any thing to try.

First, we will want to update your Billing Information on your Xbox One. You do not need to add a credit card or anything to do this. It simply
updates your account with your personal information. If that doesn't work for you, you can update your Xbox Live billing account information online as well (the Xbox
One instructions are also there at the bottom of the page).

Try out the real name sharing feature after attempting that. If you are still unable to do real name sharing, or the above steps do not work for you, please let us know so that we can look into this further.
