What kind of sound card does xbox one X have?

It sounds really clear when I put my optical line from my sound bar to my xbox one X instead of my TV.

Im pretty sure my tv doesn't have that great of a sound car considering it's a just a 4k tv. but the sound processor on the Xbox one X is first class.

    :)

What kind of sound card does xbox one X have?

    Hello sizzle,

Thank you for contacting Forum support!

Dolby Atmos support on Xbox One and Xbox One S, with this feature it enables all Xbox consoles to pass Blu-ray audio data untouched to a user’s audio equipment, allowing your audio receiver or other audio device to produce a high
    quality, immersive sound experience.

Audio Components with Xbox one X:

    DTS: 5.1

DOLBY Digital 5.1, TrueHD with Atmos

    PCM

    Hope this helps.

The Xbox One X doesn't have a soundcard, in a way a PC would have a Creative Labs SoundBlaster card for example.

The Xbox One does all sound processing on the main CPU so to speak.

However, the clearer sound when you connect the Xbox to your soundbar directly can have other reasons than the "soundcard".

I assume you had your soundbar, TV and console set up like this:

    Xbox One Console-->HDMI Cable-->TV-->Optical Cable-->Soundbar.

While the console transmits multi-channel surround to the TV, the TV might only transmit Stereo to the soundbar.

A lot of TVs only forward Stereo Sound through an optical cable, if the video feed comes from an external source. Only "internal" video streams that come from the TV's own tuner or media being played through the TV's USB Media Player will be transmitted
in multichannel audio to the sound bar.

By connecting the Xbox directly to the soundbar, the soundbar will get the original multi-channel sound from the console, instead of the stereo downmix from the TV.

So I assume your setup now looks like this:

    Soundbar<-- Optical Cable<-- Xbox One -->HDMI cable--> TV

    Right?

yeah. cause I connected my comcast cable box to my xbox one X pass through HDMI.

I have a ps4 but I'll just connect the ps4 to my xbox one X so I can get a 4k picture on my PS4 slim and the Sound bar is connected to the xbox one x.

You do know that you get severe display lag that way?

Also, you don't get "true" 4K on your PS4 Slim by doing that.

The Xbox One will just "blow up" the image to 4K dimensions, just the way your 4K display will "blow up" any non-4K video feed to 4K dimensions, so it fills the entire 4K screen instead of just a quarter with black bars all around.

This process of "blowing up" the picture, and transmitting the video feed from the HDMI In-Port of the console to the video overlay of the console's frame buffer, and then out of the HDMI Out port to the TV will introduce a certain amount of display lag.

    Imagine the following:

You're on your PS4 in a multiplayer match. An opponent stands before you and shoots his gun.

The PS4 renders the muzzle fire, and sends the rendered frame out of it's HDMI port. The Xbox One "instantly" receives the video image, and starts to put it on a video overlay in the TV App. This has to be scaled up to 4K, which takes several milliseconds.
Then the Xbox has to render the upscaled TV image to it's own video buffer which also takes time again, and send it out to the TV.

The TV then receives that video image, and the TV might do it's own image processing as well, adding another few milliseconds to the process.

By the time you see the muzzle flash on your TV screen, the PS4 has already registered your death, without you being able to react to the shot.

    Simply imagine the following:

Think of the PS4's rendering resolution as a 5mm grid paper, where a pixel fills a 5mm square completely. If you put that 5mm grid paper under a 1mm grid paper, you might see that one square pixel on the grid paper fills 5x5 squares on the 1mm grid paper.

And that's how the Xbox One sends a "4K" image from your PS4 to the TV screen. Even if the TV tells you it's getting a 4K video format, simply means, that you have 4 times the pixels with the same information, like the 5x5 grid pixels are all black like
the one single 5mm grid pixel. So you do not get a higher resolution image.

And your TV is doing the exact same thing when you connect a non-4K source to it's input, just faster.

So do yourself a favor, and simply connect the PS4 to a free HDMI Input on your TV.

The HDMI In port of the Xbox One is intended for non-interactive "linear" video feeds like a TV set-top box, where it doesn't matter if you see a film frame from a few milliseconds in the past, as you don't have to interactively react to a movie playing.
