What killed xbox live?

Hi there,

I know there is the debate about party chat is great because you don't have to listen to idiots vs party chat is rubbish because xbox live is now like a barren wasteland. Back in the gold of days of RB6 black arrow we had no party chat and everything worked
well.

The reason? The host could kick players who shouted racist or inappropriate abuse... therefore there were still annoying brats on xbox live, like there are now, but they had to behave otherwise they kept getting booted.

Does anyone know of any online gaming system or games (xbox, ps4, pc) where you can have non-party chat and the ability for hosts to boot horrible players?

Really miss the good old days of online gaming and think they must exist somewhere and if not then there is a massive gap in the market.

Xbox live killed my xbox - now what?

Hello everyone. I have the original xbox 360, with the external hard drive, and it is obviously no longer under warranty. I made the mistake of hooking it up to my new xbox live account. After downloading all the updates, I have had nothing but problems.
This includes freezing, error codes, rings of death, only playing certain games but any DVD, and which resulted in the 4 ring of death. This was all within 30 days and began immediately after the updates. To my surprise, I read that many people with the original
xbox 360 have the same issue when attempting to connect to xbox live. I'm amazed and disappointed that Microsoft has not informed its customers of this huge problem. If I recall, it is linked to firmware updates. My only option now is to send in my xbox; however,
my product is no longer showing up under my login info as being a registered device. I am told to register it, I attempt to, and an error message in red appears telling me the xbox is already registered under my name and to view it under my registered devices.
You guessed it, no devices are available under my devices. I have attempted to connect/chat with an ambassader and Microsoft support several times; however, I am yet to get a response. So, without being able to re-register the xbox I can't submit a ticket
and I have no use for my xbox since Microsoft left users with the original xbox 360 in the wind. Can anyone out there help? This has consumed so much of my time it's ridiculious. Thanks in advance for your help.

IMO...trash talking gamers are what trucked the talking community.I personally never use my mic unless it's with friends or family while playing...the game you want that still has a solid excellent talking community that i know of is Graw 2...in fact they
frown on anyone that doesn't use their mic and most of the time will kick a non speaking player.

 

"COD: Ghosts" has the fastest quick mute function of the planet.



Someone's being annoying, you can tell them, put them on quick mute and throw in the fact that they're on quick mute so they know they can't even answer back.



"Forza 5" lets people vote to kick players. We had a moron playing music through the headset in the lobby. I realised that if you highlighted the player you had the option to "Vote To Kick" and when I mentioned this in the Lobby the guy was gone in seconds.



Party Chat does far more harm than good when it comes to online play and experience has shown me that those who complain they use party chat to avoid the "nuisance players" usually tend to make a nuisance of themselves and lose it if anyone gives some back.



Keep party chat but there are some games that it's better kept out of.

 

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if xbox one online has more 'chat' than ps4 online? I heard ps4 was pretty silent these days but didnt know if xbox one was the same?

I have friends who have Playstation 3's and a cousin with a PS 4.



They're biggest obstacle seems to be being paired with people who speak the same language.



While a lot of people moaned about XBox ONE's chat because they couldn't use Party Chat at the beginning (and out of all those people more than half simply didn't understand how to use Party Chat and more specifically the "Turn Party Chat On" feature...



the XBox ONE seems to have put a lot more thought into "Party Chat" than the people actually using it.



If I meet up with a bunch of friends on the XBox 360 and we join a multiplayer game with a lot of players where it would be helpful to communicate as a Team... then we all have to exit Party Chat.



If I meet up with a bunch of friends on the ONE and join a lobby where we would benefit from being able to communicate with the entire group... it's as simple as saying "Xbox, Snap. Xbox, Turn Off Party Chat, Xbox, Unsnap" and in an instant we're all part
of the whole Team... able to communicate with the whole Team... but still in our party.



That's a great feature that not too many people have realised that they actually have.

[/quote]Also back in the day when RB6 was released, the XBL community was smaller. When you have a smaller community, people tend to act like human beings because they know they'd be muted and then NO ONE would want to talk with them. As the community
increased in size, people didn't have to worry about such repercussions since there were such larger number of people to game with.

It's sad that people can't just be human beings to each other in general. For some I guess it's a tall order.

 

Party chat is our salvation and our damnation.

 

The problem started when people started confusing trash talk for foul language and vile insults.

I get enough of that working with the public. I don't want it in my entertainment time too.

When I am muting half the lobby, including people on my own team, then I don't care how quick the mute function is as a party is quicker.

 

Vote you old emeny. The forum update is back to get you. I played online for fun when it a players match. Because it not ranked. If it rank I would played to win. But a player match is ment to just have fun with new faces.

If you're struggling you could always ask a parent or another grown up to assist you?

 

the problem is that people abused the kicking feature. hosts would kick people for no reason at all. that happend to me a lot at first. i enter a game and get kicked right away for no reason. take red dead redemption for example. as soon as i a join a game,
kicked. then i gotta go through all the loading screens to log out of a game, search for a new game and join another new game. just to get kicked again the second i join. something had to be done, so the kicking feature was removed over time. don't get mad
at microsoft and game makers for removing the kicking feature. get mad at the people that abused it.

 

Children, idiots, and anonymity doomed Xbox Live, as far as communication goes. Party chat is XBL's saving grace.
