What is wrong with my connection

We understand that you need help with some of your games to be able to play it without any issues. As as gamer I know how eager you to play your games and have fun playing those game. Personally those games you mentioned I used to play those game as well, especially NBA and Black ops 3 games.

You may try to connect you Xbox console to another network. Like if you're connected on wired try to connect your console to wireless or hotspot. Then observer if you able to play the game properly.

If the issue still persist, you may power cycle your device. This will help you to clear some system cache. To do this, follow the steps:

-Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button  on the front of the console for at least 10 seconds.
-Unplug all the cables that was plugged in at the back
-Wait for 1-2 minutes to boot up the console
-After that plug in everything back and turn on the console.

Thanks for the idea, and insight. I'll have to try that out with the hotspot. However, I'm not traveling and it is my home wifi. its been connected to the same wifi ever since I got it, so I don't know why it started acting up like this. and I have never had To do any like website thing when connecting other devices to the internet. it is also an 8 year old Xbox, so I did have a suspicion that maybe its something with the Xbox being a little old. thanks for the help!

I remember getting something similar (many years ago) when I was trying to use my Xbox with a hotel internet service. Hotels have this two "user name password" browser-based login type internet. You have to first connect to the WiFi. Then, a browser opens, you have to enter the password and then the internet works.

I don't know if you are traveling or have a user name based internet at your home.

Eventually, what i did was, I used my personal phone mobile hotspot to get connected. Your situation might be different, but, if this helps, just posting it here.
