What is the reason for the Xbox One Power BRICK?
Why is it so large
Because a ~200 power supply needs a bit of space.
Heat. Ease of replacement. Another way to region-restrict the consoles so people don't buy them en
masse where it is cheaper and import them.
The PS4 also has audible fans.
PSUs are internal only to cases that have room for them. Things like the Intel NUC have external bricks.
Laptops do not have internal power supplies. Gaming laptops traditionally have large external bricks.
Bully for
you?
Relative to the size of a ~200w PC PSU, it's not large.

:)

2. They have got to be kidding?!

The accessories (power supply, headset, etc.) are covered under warranty for 90 days from the date of purchase. What expenses are you all having to pay? Are you going through
https://myservice.xbox.com/ for the repair/replacement process? Additionally, the reason the power supply is not supposed to be plugged into a surge protector is because it could possibly overload it
and cause damage which is the reason the Xbox One diagram that came with the console shows it running from the console directly into the wall out and is stated in the

online sources
of how to properly connect your Xbox One power supply. If you all can let us know any additional details we'll see what we can do to help.

3. Xbox shut down when i press eject button

hello Lendfield,

Is your Xbox an Xbox One or One S? The reason I ask is because the power button on the One is capacitive, whereas the power button on the One S is mechanical.

What is the reason for the Xbox One Power BRICK?

I like the brick because it is my "system update" indicator.....keep it in low power state and the light is white....if you see the light is orange, then a system update occured....

6. xXBOXxOne, you've already shared YOUR huge disappointment in numerous other threads. Leave them there to die.

But I do apologize on behalf of anyone who's ever done any programming, that we are ALL so sorry that software cannot be written, retyped or altered AND approved for distribution overnight...

9. Seriously though, it's a brick - that provides power. What more do you need to know? If you're unhappy with it & don't want it, then that's fine, but then you're stuck with another even bigger & very expensive brick that used to be your Xbox One console.

11. It's a free mini xbox you get with every xbox. 2 boxes are better than only having ONE.

The Xbox 360 is the main reason the Xbox One has a power brick. With the major RROD problems MS took no risks of a heating problem this time. Put it in a box way bigger then it needs to be and keep the power supply heat out of it. Im sure if they had
more time to develop the system they would of found a way to put it in the box, but they had to come out this year or the compeition would of gotten a to big of lead. Prob why some feature arent there and some are in beta form even on the release xbox one.

Unfortunately Xenokai, Microsoft was developing (RnD) the Xbox One for a few years before it was actually announced back in May.

I don't think rush/hurry is really a reason for the power brick. When you look at the whole design of the thing, it's not too hard to tell that they've put effort into ventilation and airflow of the device. I'm pretty sure they would've left it out even
if they had all the time in the world What is the reason for the Xbox One Power BRICK? :p

360 had a brick and it overheated and got rrod, ps3 has no brick and didnt have the same problems.

.

Guess its just preference, MS wanted it outside, Sony didnt.

.

Who even notices when your playing games anyway?
