What is the process by which I can get a replacement console.

My current console has a faulty disk drive and I want to send it to Microsoft to get it fixed/replaced and I was wondering how that process works. How much time is involved, what are the steps, etc. Do I have to send my physical console back, and where do
I take it?

hey i read this from the callofduty FAQ,

"My disc is scratched or damaged. Can I get a new one?"

The disc is covered by a limited warranty that covers only manufacturing damage. However, you can obtain a new disc as a paid replacement. The fee is usually $20. Please contact Activision's Customer Support department to begin the replacement process.

Hey there Pie! If you purchased the console recently, I would recommend an in-store replacement. If it is outside of the in-store replacement window, you can set up a repair on our website (support.xbox.com/.../repair-process).

Hi there! sorry to hear about you disc drive issue. When you purchase the console, you have a 1 year warranty from Microsoft. First of all you'll need to register your console by going to myservice.xbox.com, sign in, and register a device with the serial
number. After that, you have 2 options; option 1 is call xbox customer support at 1-800-469-9269 and get to the hardware dept to setup an advanced exchange (if you do that you will be able to get a free game since your having a disc drive issue). The advanced
exchange has an initial $15 charge and then a $500 hold on a credit or debit card, this process will make it so you get a replacement console and send the old one back to Microsoft (instructions will be provided by email). Option 2 is to setup a same unit
repair to were you send the console in to be repaired, this is a little easier. There is no hold but you will have to pay to ship the package to Microsoft, Microsoft will then cover the cost to send it back. Feel free to pm me if you have anymore questions

1 more thing, the free game is only available until 3/31/14. After that, the offer won't be available anymore.

 

Hi there, i spoke to support about getting my disc drive repaired with standard exchange and was told i wasn't eligible for a free game because its only available through advanced exchange, why is that? I now feel I've missed out on a free game because i
didn't have the money in the bank.

 

I definitely understand that BAZRA89, Microsoft started a program called the "Keep playing offer". This offer was only for disc drive issues through the advanced exchange so that customers could keep playing on their console while they waited for the replacement.
I would think that the reason why its not available for the standard exchange is because you wouldn't have your console as its going through the repair. Its just an assumption, not fact.
