What is the meaning of Sterrenclub ?

Long time ago I finished all of the items/challenges of sterrenclub...

The meaning of gaming.

I was I believe 12 when I got my first game system.

The Xbox Original was given to me by my uncle on Christmas.

I loved my old Xbox, and even still have it placed right below my Xbox 360, which I saved up for for 5 months around 2 years after it came out.

My family has always had financial problems, so I was rather proud of myself you know?

Another 3 months later I bought my first month of Xbox live.

Some of the funnest moments of my life were on that console online with friends I made on AVP, and COD:Black Ops 1.

Later I played other games that I also either enjoyed or disliked, but always one thing was constant through my gaming experience on Xbox 360.

The people you met were more than not decent personality-wise.

I eventually bought the Xbox One after saving up money from a Job I got, which took around 4 months of saving.

I had my fun on it for around 2-3 years I believe.

After that time things took a downward spiral of most gamers you would be meet being rather horrible people.

People cussing each other out, and starting pissing contests with one another.

At least on 360 when these happened they were in good fun and you could tell people were joking.

These days though, if they were face to face I bet people would send fists flying.

I miss when Respect thy other gamer was a thing.

Everyone would get along for the most part because they all enjoyed the same things.

Now all people do is relieve stress by taking their anger out on others they meet online, since they know that person can't defend themselves from it except from muting them if they remember to even do so...

The point of video games comes in a few subjective definitive areas.

1. To relieve stress.

2. To make friends.

3. To lose yourself in experiences that would be impossible to experience in real life.

4. To pass time.

5. In a more recent view it can also be a way for some people to make money.

Other than 4/5, the other are hardly done anymore online.

All because people act in a word I believe is called Toxic.

Or because common views on what is the norm has been slowly changing.

My experiences these days on the games I currently play which are Overwatch, and R6: Siege online are horrible.

I don't even play ranked game modes because I don't enjoy them.

I get kicked from games, Team killed on R6 because they didn't like me, or insulted in ways such as "Go throw away your Xbox and kill yourself".

What happened to gamers on Xbox these days?

What happened to just having fun?

Is it fun to tell somebody to go kill themselves?

Is it fun to go cause people frustration by ruining their gaming experiences?

I used to have around 20+ online friend when I was on 360.

About half couldn't afford the Xbox One or switched to different consoles/PC.

Then the rest slowly dropped off the map, and now they have constant offline status.

My best online friend hasn't been online in around a year.

It's bad enough I'm always sick.

I have a bad heart.

I've had 2 heart attacks before I'm even in my late 20's.

I'm tired...

I've sadly been thinking of quitting online play for Xbox.

Which would be horribly depressing to do.

When the cause of me wanting to quit Xbox is the players themselves, it seems like things need to change.

Maybe a way to hire people who are able to instantly help those who are being harassed?

Maybe a way to help gamers enjoy themselves again?

I don't care if this thread is viewed as stupid by others.

I just wanted to feel a bit better after feeling so depressed these days.

So I posted my thoughts in the online forum.

Maybe an Xbox dev as unlikely as it would be, will see my post.

Maybe a small change could happen that will help people have fun again?

If you think about it, their have been more suicides from depressed people who were always harassed than there were deaths to crime in the US.

The meaning of gaming.

An interesting read.

Myself, as a gamer who is 50+, have had exactly the same type of experiences as yourself.

To get abuse, verbal or otherwise from people on-line is totally out of order. And even worse when it comes from some scrawny teen and pre-teen even.

That is why I joined a gaming clan. Good fun gaming with folk of a similar age.

Instead of giving up with on-line gaming I suggest that you try the same.
