What is the maximum capture resolution supported by Xbox series S?

Hi, I am able to change the display output resolution in Xbox series S to 4K UHD. However, when I go to the capture and share settings, the maximum capture resolution available is still 1080p SDR - there are no HDR or higher resolution options available. I am using an LG monitor that is 4K 60hz HDR (LG 27UL500) along with the HDMI cable supplied by Xbox.

Please note I have also tried to install an external SSD - Sandisk extreme pro 500GB SSD and set it as the capture location. Also tried internal storage.

So what is the maximum capture resolution supported by Xbox series S?

This page - https://www.xbox.com/en-IN/consoles/compare says it can capture 4K 60FPS so is there an ongoing issue or some issue with the monitor?

    Xbox Series X - 1440p?

    Hi,

The maximum supported resolution of Series S will be 1440P. Series X just like the Xbox One X before it will support 1440P too.

It will work on your monitor, don't worry.

can i play fortnite on my xbox series s at 120 fps and 1440p?

    Hello Alexis Lamothe,

Thank you for your contribution to the Microsoft community.

We totally understand that you want to play Fortnite on higher FPS and resolution. However. the Xbox Series S does not support 1440p resolution at 120fps for Fortnite. The maximum resolution supported by the Xbox Series S is 1080p at 120fps. However, you can still enjoy playing Fortnite on your Xbox Series S at 1080p and 120fps.

    Hope I helped!

I’m trying to connect my Xbox series s with an HP w2408h monitor

Hi, Andy my name is Oskayra, and will be a pleasure help you

The issue you're encountering is likely due to a compatibility issue between the native resolution of your Xbox Series S and the maximum resolution supported by your HP w2408h monitor.

The Xbox Series S outputs a native resolution of 1920x1080, which is slightly different from the maximum resolution of 1920x1200 supported by your monitor. This mismatch is causing your monitor to display an "input signal out of range" message.

To resolve this issue, you'll need to adjust the output resolution of your Xbox Series S to match the native resolution of your monitor, which is 1920x1080. Here's how to do it:

On your Xbox Series S, navigate to Settings > General > TV & Audio > Video modes.

Under "Resolution," select "1920x1080" from the available options.

Once you've selected the desired resolution, restart your Xbox Series S.

After restarting, your Xbox Series S should output a resolution that is compatible with your HP w2408h monitor, and the "input signal out of range" message should no longer appear.

If you're still having trouble, you can try the following additional steps:

Ensure that your HDMI cable is properly connected to both your Xbox Series S and your monitor.

Try using a different HDMI cable if the one you're using is old or damaged.

Check for any firmware updates for your monitor.

I really hope your problem has been fixed with my help,if this works let me know and have a nice day. Oskayra

Displays images with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

It offers a 16:9 high definition (HD) viewing area.
720p is the lowest resolution on most HDTVs. However, the image is still excellent and for a screen smaller than 37 inches, the quality of the 720p images is practically similar to that of higher resolution televisions. If your HDTV only has 720p and 1080i as options, you should select 720p for the best resolution.

This is what 1080p resolution does:
Displays images with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
This offers users a 16:9 high definition (HD) viewing area.

1080p is the most common resolution for movies, television, games, and many of the experiences offered by the Xbox. A 1080p TV offers the best picture quality, allowing you to enjoy Blu-ray movies in the resolution they were designed for. Each line of pixels on the screen is redrawn 60 times per second or faster.

This reduces motion blur and creates a sharp image.
